http://www.twitter.com/P4WF www.instagram.com/pwfnetwork At the Partnership for Working Families, we work to ensure that everyone can live in a neighborhood that’s thriving — with good jobs for all, affordable housing, excellent schools, clean water to drink, clean air to breathe, and great public transportation. Powerful interests' pursuit of profits in our cities often pushes people out of their homes, proliferates bad jobs and hurts our environment. But we we have the tools and wisdom in our communities to fight back, and when we join forces and center the leadership of people most affected, we can win. Through our network of 20 city and regional affiliates, we build coalitions with the power to transform our cities. We organize to build community power and pass smart policies so all working people have a voice in our community, access to family-sustaining jobs and a healthy environment. We develop local capacity to win, provide expert assistance and create a peer-learning network that cultivates emerging leaders. Our network’s successful, bottom-up campaigns create a new vision of what is possible and a path toward a just society on a national scale.

Our friends at Public Rights Project just launched #WeAreEssential, a campaign dedicated to amplifying the voices of @Instacart workers who became essential workers during the #COVID19 pandemic, but fail to receive the protections they are entitled to by law due to Instacart’s practice of misclassifying their workers. Check out this powerful video where workers share what they’ve faced shopping during the pandemic with little to no support from Instacart: https://vimeo.com/473949414

All workers deserve basic rights. This Election Day, California voters have a chance to stand up for gig workers by voting NO on Prop 22. #workersrights #gigeconomy #gigworkers

Every voter should have their voice heard & their vote counted. It might take longer to count the votes and verify a winner in this year’s election - and that’s to be expected. Let's prepare to be patient so election officials can take the time to make sure we #CountEveryVote.

Every vote counts. Prepare to demand that every vote be counted.

We the people are powerful. Whether we’re at the ballot box electing a government by and for us or in the streets demanding justice, we count on each other to deliver authentic democracy in our cities and country. The vote count process could take longer this year than in years past. We will not rest until our states count every vote.

We are joining together with people from all walks of life to vote in record numbers, demand that every single vote is counted, and…

POWER

POWER Live Free expresses our sorrow and extends our support to the family of Walter Wallace, Jr. We are outraged and we condemn the senseless killing of Mr. Wallace by Philadelphia Police Officers. The use of lethal violence, rather than de-escalation tactics, reflects contempt for Black Lives.

We demand:

1. The release of all video from the killing.
The officers involved should be suspended, immediately, and ultimately terminated.

2. We also demand that Mayor Jim Kenney, Commissioner Danielle Outlaw, and District Attorney Larry Krasner take definitive action to implement long-standing recommendations to change how the City responds to people experiencing mental health crises.

3. The killing of “Little Walt,” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, is tragic and further emphasizes the need for independent civilian police oversight, which is on the ballot this fall.

Now more than ever we need Independent Police Oversight, and we urge voters in Philadelphia to vote “yes” on Issue #3. We can no longer expect the police to hold themselves accountable. Enough is enough. #walterwallace #PowerInterfaith #powerlivefree

The budget fight in Chicago is just beginning as our partners encourage Mayor Lightfoot to defund the police and redistribute those funds to the community. Community-based solutions work!

Lightfoot's budget comes out on Wednesday. Join us at City Hall to demand an end to the gross overspending on policing!

Last year she budgeted over 4 million dollars a day to spend on policing, and we spent nearly a billion dollars on police overtime alone, thats robbery! We need to take back our budget and spend our money on the services our communities need to recover from the pandemic and reinvest in strong Black and Brown communities to withstand these troubling times.

Opinion | Don’t Let Amazon Get Any Bigger

It's Amazon Prime Day, but no prime opportunities exist for Amazon workers. No PPE, stagnant wages, no worker's compensation are only a few challenges they face laboring during COVID.

There are a billion reasons why billionaire Jeff Bezos shouldn't get any richer and Amazon shouldn't get any bigger.

A damning congressional report about Big Tech helps make the case to break up Jeff Bezos’ empire.

Amazon: It's time for worker safety!

Amazon employees are tracked, monitored, and prodded into working at a dangerous pace while @Amazon expects to generate $10 billion in global sales for this #PrimeDay. We demand Amazon to remove the Rate/TOT policy permanently! #SafetyIsntSpying

Rate/TOT has never been healthy for Amazon workers. We are working in the middle of a global pandemic like it's Prime Day every day, without being able to social distance or access the PPE we need. This is why we are calling on Amazon to remove the RATE/ TOT policy permanently.

Prop. 22 would leave gig workers without core protections | CalMatters

If you hold a job in America, care about workers or simply don’t like the idea of some of the richest corporations in the world literally writing their own laws, then you can’t afford to ignore what’s happening in California. The Partnership's Legal Fellow Rey Fuentes explains Prop 22's implications for worker power in California and across the country:

Prop. 22 is designed to permanently exempt workers from sick leave or workers’ compensation, or provide them with a living wage.

Live updates: White House doctor says Trump "reports no symptoms" of COVID-19

We can't help but think about the White House staff...the cooks, housekeepers, janitors, cafeteria workers, pages, the press all who interact with Trump and other key figures who have tested positive for COVID.

During a once in a century pandemic, prioritizing the safety of ALL workers must be paramount. We cannot ignore the careless disregard for the workers who care for American political figures. This is an outrage.

Dr. Sean Conley, the White House physician, said the president is doing "extremely well" and experiencing "no symptoms."
