Achieve Academy student Wendy wasn’t able to make it to the distribution event so we delivered a permanent #OaklandUndivided laptop to her.
We're on a mission to close the digital divide & we won't stop until every student has the tools they need to reach their full potential.

State of the City 2020 - Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf
2020 was a year of grief, of pride, and most all: Hope. Our City of Oakland employees went above the call of duty to deliver services to our most vulnerable in their greatest time of need.
We came together as a community with urgency + passion to deliver 25,000 meals a week to residents, 25,000 free laptops to kids + families, and while paving a historic 26 miles of new roads. #OaklandUndivided #TheGreatPave
We converted hotels into housing for the homeless, stood up testing sites in our most impacted neighborhoods, and connected our homebound seniors with food and social services through the heralded #GreatOaklandCheckIn #OperationHomeKey
We opened our neighborhood roads and returned them to pedestrians and bicyclists. We allowed restaurants to flow onto sidewalks and streets; we delivered grants to keep small businesses and non-profits rooted in Oakland. #SlowStreets #FlexStreets
Our beloved artists healed our city and transformed our downtown into a living art gallery — a call to action and shrine to the racial reckoning long overdue in our country. We love you, #Oakland.
To attack poverty, economic disparity and racial injustice, we will launch a guaranteed income pilot in Oakland this year — because everyone deserves to go to bed with a basic level of economic security. #GuaranteedIncome
Thank you again to every city worker and all those who volunteered and pitched in to bring our community together in 2020. Let's make sure we see clearly the lessons of 2020 and build a more just, equitable, and compassionate society. #StateOfTheCity

Oakland Virtual Town Hall Highlights
Today marks six months since Alameda County issued its SIP order, forcing all of us to find new ways to stay connected. We started Virtual Town Halls to keep Oaklanders informed, and here’s some of our favorite #OakTownHall moments of wisdom from our guests.
Tune in tomorrow at 6pm for our Town Hall on voting rights and voter education with Secretary Alex Padilla and Morandon Henry of the NAACP.
