On Monday, February 26th, Elizabeth Pappy, Esq. hosted a Bay Area SMACNA Lunch and Learn on “Mechanic’s Lien Laws."
Members learned how mechanic’s liens are powerful tools to ensure payment by owners and general contractors. Timing rules can be difficult to navigate and implement as businesses go about daily business because of disputes over what constitutes substantial completion and more often, knowing when substantial completion has taken place because a company has been off the job for weeks or months before the project achieves substantial completion.
Guests got answers to questions and a general overview of the mechanic’s lien procedures to maximize their chances of their companies getting paid.
