Highland has 236 inpatient beds and is home to one of the most effctive regional trauma centers and emergency departments in the world. Through its affiliation with UCSF MedicalSchool, Highland Hospital teaches the surgeons and specialists of tomorrow. The newly opened Highland Care Pavilion provides same-day primary and specialized health care in 10 specialty centers. Fairmont Hospital provides acute rehabilitation and skilled nursing services with 140 patient beds, including 90 skilled nursing beds and a 50-bed acute rehabilitation unit. Its experienced physicians and specialists provide care to patients who have suffered from multiple traumas, brain injury, stroke and other injuries, and illnesses that require rehabilitation and longer-term care. Th e hospital houses inpatients, and includes advanced prosthetics/orthotics and general rehabilitation. John George Psychiatric Hospital is an 80-bed facility providing psychiatric emergency and acute care services to adults experiencing severe and disabling behavioral health illnesses and treats all who seek care regardless of their economic or social status. John George provides care for 99 percent of all acute psychiatric emergencies in Alameda County and is a leader in the use of data analytics to formulate effective care decisions and strategies. San Leandro Hospital is a 93-bed community-based hospital that provides inpatient and outpatient services including medical, surgical and intensive care. Ancillary services include diagnostic imaging, clinical laboratory testing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Its 24-hour Emergency Department has 13 beds and serves an estimated 27,000 patients a year. Alameda Hospital is a 281-bed community-based hospital with 100 acute care and 181 skilled nursing and subacute beds including medical, surgical and intensive care. Locations include the Waters Edge and South Shore skilled nursing facilities, Creedon Advanced Wound Care, and Bay Area Bone and Joint, which offer several treatment specialties. Its 24-hour Emergency Department treats over 17,000 patients a year and is a Certifi ed Advanced Primary Stroke Center. Wellness Centers AHS’s network of neighborhood-based community centers expands access to primary and specialized care with an interdisciplinary team of physicians and specialists. Using an integrated service model, medical staff works to connect patients with the care they need in a timely manner, including referrals for specialized care.
