California to spend nearly $1B for 200 million masks per month

It's unfortunate that the States are left on their own to solve these supply shortages, but hopefully, these supplies will get where they are needed most around the State.

California is cobbling together the initial payment with $188 million in coronavirus funding approved by state lawmakers.

In L.A., Social Workers Conducting Home Visits without Protection

To all our Emergency Response Social Workers, please take every precaution and thank you to our County Chief Steward Daniella Tobey for pointing out to Country management the need for protective gear. This is a big issue for ER staff. Do not put yourself in dangerous situations and know that the union is fighting hard to protect you.

Great timing to read this — make sure all our coworkers (not on Facebook, not on this AFSCME page, etc) have a chance to read this. Today we started our Strike Vote!! We are one of the richest counties yet can’t get an offer of reasonable raise or any consideration to a change in retirement health.
