Emergency Relief Fund - Uvira District, Democratic Republic of Congo

Thank you in advance for your generous fund donation to help victims of torrential rains. From 16 to 17 April 2020, the torrential rain lashed the vast area of Uvira District (South-Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of Congo) causing Mulongwe river to burst its banks. Much of the area was completely devastated as homes were carried away by the fast-running water. According to the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), at least 60 bodies, mostly of women and children, were recovered, more than 40 people are still missing, 15,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed, 7 bridges damaged or have completely collapsed, almost 78,000 people have been left without shelter, and roads have been blocked and drinking water supply cut. Stagnant pools of flood water continue to serve as ideal breeding grounds for pathogens that result in diarrhea and other waterborne infections. Cases of diarrhea and cholera have already been reported.

One hundred percent (100%) of the money raised will be used, among other things, to provide affected communities with food, Clean water, utensils, clothes, shoes, tents, blankets, toiletries, and medicines.

God bless!
