MOVE OVER! We are extremely thankful that our Trooper wasn't seriously injured when his cruiser was hit last night on I-80 near North Platte.

He was parked, with emergency lights on, moving traffic over to protect tow truck operators while they cleaned up a previous crash.

The Nebraska Military Department and the City of Ogallala have formed a new partnership to better support Service Members, Veterans, and members of the community, while also enhancing emergency response capabilities to ensure the safety of all residents.

The public is invited to celebrate this exciting collaboration at two upcoming events on Thursday, August 6th, 2026, alongside leaders from the Nebraska Military Department and the City of Ogallala.

The day will begin at 8:30 AM with a Wreath Laying Ceremony in honor and remembrance of Veterans past and present. This ceremony will take place in the Military Section of the Ogallala Cemetery, located at 2501 West 5th Street.

Following the morning ceremony, a formal Signing Ceremony will take place at 1:45 PM at Ogallala City Hall, located at 411 East 2nd Street.

Both events are free and open to everyone!

Update - Due to unforeseen schedule conflicts, the helicopter will not be able to make it tonight. However, the weather is perfect and the event is still going to be awesome! 45 mins to go!

Weather permitting, HCA Healthone AirLife will be joining us tonight for National Night Out at 5:30 PM! We are looking forward to seeing the community tonight!

A grass fire north of Lake Mac on Hwy. 61 was reported by local ranchers.

KC-EMS Responded with Command, Medical UTV, and 1 Ambo for rehab standby while Keystone Lemoyne Fire Rescue and Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department rapidly extinguished the blaze.

No injuries or illnesses reported.

All units returned to service by 1530
