Chris Nobile - North Andover Selectman

Chris Nobile - North Andover Selectman Chris Nobile is a former elected member of the North Andover Board of Selectmen serving 2017-2022 Nobile to Run For Board of Selectmen
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.

(January 3, 2017) – Chris Nobile announced that he is running for one of the seats on the North Andover Board of Selectmen in the election to be held March 28th, 2017.

“There are a lot of things to be excited about in North Andover, and I want to apply my experience and passion to keep us moving in that right direction" said Nobile, a member of the town's Finance Committee. "We need to double do

wn on our planning, and continue to support the ‘pay as you go’ approach our town manager has applied in improving many of our municipal facilities." Nobile, who previously served on the School Committee, emphasized the need to collaborate with all town departments in order to keep North Andover moving forward. "We're looking at dramatically improving the Hayes Field behind the Middle School, opening it up to more residents for community access; we're on the cusp of building a brand new kindergarten; and we're seriously looking at upgrading Senior Center facilities," explained Nobile. "We're in a great position to see the projects become a reality, and as I continue to speak with people across our town, residents recognize the tremendous benefit to all of us if we can get these projects done right." Nobile said his experience will be an asset as a member of the Board. A financial services professional who has served two terms on the Finance Committee, Nobile also served a term on the School Committee. He was intimately involved in the Andover/North Andover YMCA fundraising effort for its expansion, working with staff to help make the new facility a reality. When he isn't volunteering in the community, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons, two of whom attend North Andover Public Schools.

After Mother Nature interfered the April 4 Comp Plan meeting we were able reschedule April 8. (Many us contending with the challenges of the intervening days!)

Notes:
Committee members gave their final feedback on this version of the Plan, which was updated and proofread following the March Public Hearing. The suggestions were primarily small edits for consistency and accuracy, to be incorporated into the draft prior to it being sent to SMPDC.

The Committee voted to send the Plan, with these amendments, to SMPDC. The brief is:
- To review for consistency with the State checklist and to note, in the checklist, the page where each requirement is met. (SMPDC will also be numbering the pages.)
- To let our Chair know promptly if information required by the checklist and appropriate to Ogunquit is missing, as each chapter review is completed.
- To make any small corrections needed, for example, ensuring the most current statistics are cited.
- Most importantly we asked SMPDC to provide a letter at the end of the review to confirm that in their opinion, the Plan is State consistent.

The Plan will be returned no later than May 10 and we will review it at our next meeting, which will be held on May 16, before it goes to the State.

Next steps:
Future meetings will be held on July 11, August 15, and September 5. We hope that the Plan will receive State approval by August 15, enabling us to submit the Plan to the Select Board who will hold their own Public Hearing. Our target is to have the Plan on the November warrant.

And in the meantime . . .
We’ll have a table at two of the Town’s most popular summer events – Ogunquit Pride (we’ll be there on June 1) and BonAire! (date to be agreed with the Chamber). Come get a progress report and let us hear your thoughts – hope to see you there!
Thank you!

Help to forever protect the natural resources and open space of the Stevens Estate.
Attend our Town Meeting June 15 and please vote yes on
Article 9: Transfer care and custody of land to Conservation Commission

This article will serve to protect the land surrounding the Stevens Estate for open space and natural resources by transferring the care and custody to the Conservation Commission. This action will make certain that the land surrounding the Stevens Estate will be preserved for conservation purposes, will allow for the protection and maintenance of natural resources and protect the Town’s watershed forever. The article would further allow the Select Board or the Conservation Commission to convey a conservation restriction to a third party to add another layer of protection for the open space and natural resources. The Town is currently working with Mass Audubon for this purpose. The structures on the property are not included in this article, and are already protected by a historical preservation restriction.
