In Oklahoma, h**p is more than a plant—it’s a legal, non‑intoxicating crop that can help us be good stewards of the land God gave us, put real money into classrooms, and create honest work in rural communities so our farms can be rich again. For generations, h**p was grown for rope, grain, and other everyday products until federal laws in the 1930s shut it down and took a valuable crop away from states like ours. Today, that same h**p can be turned into durable clothing, mold‑resistant building materials, insulation, and other products that are in high demand, giving farmers and ranchers a viable, resilient crop that can turn their pocketbooks around the way the oil boom once did for Oklahoma. When we regulate and tax cannabis and industrial h**p the right way today, we can restore that responsible tradition, stop starving our schools, and start investing in every child’s God‑given potential.

I’m saying it loud: Connie Johnson for Governor 2026—because growing h**p for industry, not smoking, can help make Oklahoma strong and prosperous again.”

Here is just one use of materials and systems that are often stronger than concrete and resist mold fall into a few categories:

1. Engineered concretes and geopolymer mixes
Geopolymer concrete can reach compressive strengths higher than many standard Portland concretes and is very resistant to chemical attack and mold, because it is mineral‑based and non‑organic.

Ultra‑high‑performance concrete (UHPC) is much stronger than normal concrete (very high compressive and flexural strength) and, like concrete generally, doesn’t support mold growth unless the surface stays dirty and damp with organic material.

2. Fiber‑reinforced composites
Fiber‑reinforced polymers (FRP) (fiberglass, carbon‑fiber composites) can be much stronger than concrete by weight, and they don’t rot or mold because they’re synthetic and non‑porous.

Hemp‑fiber composites (for panels, blocks, boards) can be designed to be very durable; when properly bound and sealed, the plant fiber is protected and doesn’t mold easily because the structure can “breathe” and manage moisture.

3. Hempcrete and similar “breathable” materials
Hempcrete (h**p shiv + lime binder) is not structurally stronger than concrete in compression, but it is:

Very resistant to mold and mildew (high pH lime, vapor‑open wall).

Excellent for insulation and moisture regulation.
In a political/advocacy context, you’d say: “It doesn’t rot or mold like wood and drywall can.”

4. Inorganic boards and panels
Cement board, magnesium‑oxide board, and other mineral panels do not support mold growth because they’re inorganic; they are often tougher and more water‑resistant than standard gypsum drywall.

These are used where you want “never molds” performance—bathrooms, basements, exterior sheathing.

Had a Great time being a panelist this morning at Minority Cannabis Business Association Equity Workshop!

My key take away points gleaned from this morning’s Minority Cannabis Association Workshop are:
1 Regulatory confusion and inconsistent enforcement have resulted in difficulty navigating Oklahoma cannabis regulations, especially the need to cross-reference OMMA and OBNDD licenses, verify compliance for every transaction, and interpret changing rules. Inconsistent inspector training and enforcement has created uncertainty for businesses trying to comply. There is a huge need for better communication, education, and industry collaboration. This lack of reliable, centralized information, including reliance on Facebook and informal networks for regulatory updates underscores a need for stronger communication between agencies and the industry, including clearer guidance, best-practice standards, and broader cannabis education programs, including professional training similar to other regulated industries; and
2 Tying cannabis policy to social equity and criminal justice reform involves, among other things, expungement for non-violent ma*****na offenses, restitution for people harmed by past enforcement, minority business opportunities, and using the cannabis industry as a vehicle for economic development and community empowerment. This would lead to more predictable regulation, improved information sharing and professional standards, and connecting cannabis policy to wider economic and criminal justice reforms.

Statement from Connie Johnson for Governor 2026

Affordable and accessible healthcare is not a privilege—it is a necessity for every Oklahoma family.

This legislative session reinforced what many Oklahomans already know: healthcare decisions made at the Capitol have real consequences for patients, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, working families, and rural communities.
I was encouraged to see advocates, patients, and veterans successfully defend access to critical prescription drug services when concerns were raised about HB 3538. Their voices helped preserve healthcare options that many Oklahomans depend upon every day. That outcome serves as an important reminder that public policy works best when lawmakers listen to the people most affected by it.
At the same time, we continue to see proposals that could increase healthcare costs, create barriers to care, or shift additional financial burdens onto families already struggling with rising costs. Whether the issue is prescription drugs, dental care, insurance premiums, or healthcare mandates, the guiding question should always be simple: Will this make healthcare more affordable, more accessible, and better for Oklahoma patients?
As Governor, I will work to ensure that healthcare policy is driven by patients—not politics, special interests, or ideology. I support greater transparency so lawmakers and the public understand the true costs and consequences of healthcare legislation before it becomes law. Oklahomans deserve honest information and thoughtful policymaking that puts people first.
My vision is clear:
• Protect access to prescription medications, especially for veterans, seniors, and rural residents.
• Expand access to affordable healthcare services in every community.
• Increase transparency and accountability in healthcare policymaking.
• Reduce unnecessary barriers that prevent people from receiving timely care.
• Strengthen consumer protections so families are not burdened with unexpected healthcare costs.
• Ensure that healthcare decisions prioritize patients and providers rather than special interests.
For too many families, healthcare costs continue to determine whether they can fill a prescription, see a doctor, or receive needed treatment. That is unacceptable in a state as resourceful and compassionate as Oklahoma.
Because These Fights Are Not Over, I will continue fighting for a healthcare system that works for everyone—not just those who can afford it. Every Oklahoman deserves access to quality, affordable healthcare, regardless of their ZIP code, income, age, or background.
Together, we can build an Oklahoma where healthcare is accessible, affordable, and focused on improving lives—not increasing obstacles.
