Hey there, Pawnee County Dems! I just saw that Elizabeth Warren has been added to the speaker list for the Oklahoma Democratic Convention next month! I'm seriously thinking about going, anyone else??

I should add: there are several fantastic speakers lined up, this is just the post I saw! Example, Justin Pearson (from the "Tennessee Three" that held their ground so eloquently last year), JB Pritzker (Gov. of Illinois and outspoken Trump adversary),
Tamya Cox-Touré (Executive Director of the Oklahoma ACLU, boy howdy, have they had to put in some work over the last couple of years!) and so many more!

Join the Oklahoma Democratic Party's 2025 State Convention in Broken Arrow on June 28-29. Connect with Democrats, attend inspiring workshops, and help shape the future. Sign up for updates now!

We have a candidate! And a great one at that! She's the current minority leader in the Oklahoma House and she's ready to lead the state!

She’s the only Democrat and one of two women vying for the top executive seat in the state.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
APRIL 15, 2025

MARTIN O'MALLEY TO HEADLINE SOCIAL SECURITY TOWN HALL IN OKLAHOMA CITY
Former Social Security Commissioner to Take Questions from Oklahomans Amid Agency Turmoil

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — The Oklahoma Democratic Party announced today that it will host a Social Security Town Hall on April 17, 2025, at 5th Baptist Church (801 NE 5th St, Oklahoma City). The event, which begins at 6:30 PM (doors open at 6:00 PM), will feature Martin O’Malley, the former Commissioner of the Social Security Administration and former Governor of Maryland, as the keynote speaker. This town hall offers a rare opportunity for Oklahomans to ask pressing questions about Social Security directly to someone who has led the agency and knows how it should operate.

O’Malley’s appearance comes at a critical time. Social Security has been making national headlines due to recent developments and controversies. O’Malley himself has recently warned that proposed federal actions could cause the system to “collapse” and lead to an “interruption of benefits” within months. Such a disruption would be unprecedented — more than 72 million Americans rely on Social Security, and the program has never missed a payment in over 80 years. In Oklahoma alone, roughly 800,000 residents depend on Social Security for their retirement or disability benefits. The looming uncertainty has many locals concerned about the future of the program and their livelihoods.

Rather than avoid open forums or tough questions, Democrats are opening the floor to everyone. The Oklahoma Democratic Party is extending an invitation to all Oklahomans— regardless of how they voted last November— to participate in this town hall. Attendees will have the chance to hear O’Malley’s insights on how the Social Security Administration should operate and to engage in a candid Q&A about the challenges facing the system. Organizers emphasize that the event is about inclusive civic engagement on an issue that affects everyone, from seniors to young families planning for the future.

Alicia Andrews, Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, stressed the importance of accessibility and engagement. “At a time when many leaders shy away from tough questions, we believe in open civic engagement and making government accessible to everyone,” said Andrews. “No matter how you voted in November, you are welcome to join us and get straight answers on Social Security. Our goal is to help Oklahomans navigate this critical issue and ensure no one is left in the dark when it comes to their future.”

The scars of the March fires are still fresh for many of our neighbors, family, and friends. It's unconscionable that at this critical time, the governor is diverting attention and resources to attacking our state forestry service. Our legislators are at the capitol right now. Don't wait. Take immediate action by calling or emailing your State Representative or Senator to demand transparency regarding the governor's actions. Find your specific Pawnee County representatives and their contact information via the link below. Please note that despite our shared county, we have different legislative representation.

Sources confirmed to News 4 Monday numerous high-level employees at Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS) have been placed on paid leave—and in one case possibly fired—after Governor Stitt ordered the O…

Hey OK Dems! 💙 Those "Hands Off" rallies? Seriously, SO good! Seeing all those blue dots gathering together to make their voices heard?? Amazing! Just a friendly reminder: you're not alone out here! We're a bigger family than you think. 😉 Let's keep that energy going!

Local citizens from across the Tulsa metro gathered together to take part in the "Hands Off" demonstrations happening nationwide to protest the recent actions of the Trump administration.

Curious about what the Oklahoma Democratic Party stands for?

Here are the highlights of the Party Platform. Check out the link for details!

Protecting our state from extreme partisan ideology requires defending and strengthening our democratic institutions, namely our election processes. Democrats support secure, efficient, and accessible voting.

We must properly invest in our state government and public infrastructure, including:

Common and higher education,

Transportation,

Mental health,

Medicaid,

and Public safety.

This requires a progressive tax code where everyone contributes their fair share without undue hardship.

We strongly oppose the diversion of public tax dollars to private school voucher and tax credit programs.

Oklahoma is home to 39 sovereign Tribal Nations. We acknowledge that our prosperity as a state is intertwined with the prosperity of our Tribal Nation partners.

Medical care decisions should be left to doctors and their patients, and that includes bodily autonomy, reproductive rights, and gender-affirming care. We refuse to move backward and will stand firm in defense of these rights.

We believe Oklahoma should be inclusive for all of us, regardless of race, s*x, gender identity, age, ethnicity, religion, s*xuality, or disability.

Oklahoma Democrats are committed to putting the people of Oklahoma first by promoting the values and policies that advance the common good and expand opportunities for every resident of our state. Our values call upon us to make our state the best in the nation.

Pawnee County Democrats, we're rebuilding!

💪 Yes, we may be a small group with around 1,500 registered Democrats, but we are MIGHTY!

This is our year to organize and energize. Odd years are crucial for building our party at the county and precinct levels, laying the groundwork for the 2026 election for governor and beyond.

Remember, local government matters! Your schools, roads, firefighters, utilities – these are directly impacted by local elections. We need to make our voices heard right here at home.
Our first step is to fill key leadership positions: Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. I recently attended valuable training with the state Democratic Party and I'm ready to get to work! Let's bring balance back to Oklahoma and improve our quality of life.

After two decades of Republican majority, it's time for change!

If you're interested in learning more or getting involved, please email me Sara Mautino at [email protected].

Important Note: This group is specifically for Pawnee County residents. Let's remember to be respectful of our neighbors, friends, and coworkers in our discussions. We're all humans, and we deserve kindness.
