Although we missed out on many other opportunities, we are so grateful to have been invited by City Of Haskell. We put on our parade best and our new tack then not only did we participate but we also led the Haskell Parade! It was an honor and a great memory to add!

Seeing the joy and smiles on everyone, especially the children, as we come by is truly an indescribable feeling. We are so thankful to be a part of many amazing communities.

We love celebrating with you all and wish you all a HAPPY HOLIDAY AND A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ„ ๐ŸŽ…

Itโ€™s been awhile since we have had a post, but we have been really busy out here! We were able to move and get better housing for our horses with the area we need to train appropriately! We hope you guys enjoyed seeing us at the festival and rodeo this year because we enjoyed meeting many of you all! We are taking pride in what we are doing and we sure hope it shows! We are adding people to our team and hopefully adding some new horses as well! Here are some pictures from the past few months from the festival, to rodeos, to training, team bonding (throwing hay ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ) and our guys even got to participate in filming a movie! Thanks for sticking around to watch us grow, not only within our agency but our community!

As time goes on, we continue to put in work behind the scenes. Our officers have been working to get these horses and themselves ready for anything. Not only is it important to work with our horses in training but maintenance of the horses is important as well. Our officers use these days to brush and inspect their horses to make sure they are getting the attention and care they need. Our training days are just as important for the horses as they are for us, individually and as a team.

If you see us out at the festival, make sure to say hi! We look forward to being out with our community!

Mounted Patrol has been busy these past couple of months. We are adding people and horses to our team, creating community bonds and getting involved where we can!

We want to give a huge thank you to Broken Arrow Police Department Mounted Patrol for inviting us to Camp Bandage and Rooster Days! We enjoyed meeting the community of Broken Arrow and look forward to attending again! A continuous thank you for putting together our trainings and helping us progress!

Another shoutout to Special Olympics Oklahoma for letting us take part in the Parade and being able to show support for the amazing Athletes. It was an experience we will never forget and an event we will always look forward too!

Keep a look out for updates about future events, who knows where we will be next!

This week were are kicking off our second round of training! Thanks to the Bureau of Land Management in Hutchinson, Kansas we were able to adopt 6 more horses and 3 of those are currently being certified. As we get new horses and new officers, both have to go through extensive training to ensure that the horse and rider are prepared to work and can do it effectively. We look forward to having more certified horses and officers so that we can serve our community. We appreciate the Broken Arrow Police Department Mounted Patrol for hosting this training. We look forward to a long lasting, working relationship with BLM and BPD.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to come out and get to know a little bit about our unit and what were are hoping to accomplish. It is our goal to benefit our Community and Agency in many ways such as Public Relations, Crowd Control, Search and Rescue and many others.

Horses can be beneficial in these roles because of their ability to go into areas that automotive and/or first responders may not be able to easily get into. Horses have the ability to cover a large area of land in a quicker time span because of their height which also allows officers to be able see more area. As in the video, 1 horse is equivalent to 4/5 boots on the ground which can be detrimental when working Search and Rescue cases. Our Officers along with their horses go through extensive training to be prepared for these situations so that they may work them diligently and tactically.

We would like to give a tremendous Thank you to Chief Phillips! Your assistance and support has been truly appreciated and we are happy to be afforded this amazing opportunity, Thank you. The Muscogee Nation Lighthorse Mounted Patrol looks forward to helping build a bond with the community and being an asset to the citizens of our nation.

Although it has been slow, we are steadily making progress with building up our Mounted Patrol. Our Officers continuously put in their hard work and time to get everyone, as a team, where we need to be. Most agencies, especially starting new departments within the agencies, are limited on resources to support wants and needs. Because of this, research is done to find grants and sometimes, sponsorships to reach our requirements as well as standards we have set for our team. The end goal is to make sure that we are beneficial to not only our Agency but the Communities we serve as well. Of course, this takes proper training and an appropriate place to train and house the horses. We are fortunate enough to have gotten our first sponsorship from McCoy's Building Supply in Okmulgee, OK. This sponsorship is going towards building materials and maintenance to ensure we have safe and stable housing and space to train. Thank you to Chris and the rest of the staff at McCoy's for assisting us to reach our goal and we look forward to a long partnership.

We want to give big THANK YOU to the City of Okmulgee, the City of Beggs, and the City of Coweta for allowing us the opportunity to participate and represent our Mounted Patrol Department during their Christmas Parades. These Community events may only be a small part of what we do but it is a huge part in building relationships between communities and agencies. Plus, our officers love getting to be able to get out and speak with the community about the benefits of our jobs and see the joy these horses bring to the kids' faces. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
