Well, Tuesday night was not the result that we hoped for or expected. While we are waiting for the final votes to be counted, we are at peace with what the voters decide.

I'm incredibly grateful to God, my wife Anna, my kiddos, our hundreds of volunteers and donors, and my campaign team for their love and support since we announced last September.

My hope is that whoever is our next commissioner will listen to the concerns and struggles of our neighbors, give us a property tax break, and work hard to preserve what makes Johnson County the best place in the world to live, work, and raise a family.

I will work FOR THE PEOPLE of Johnson County. I will work to lower taxes and ensure that we are spending your hard-earned tax dollars responsibly. I will work to support our first responders, making sure they have everything they need to perform their jobs well and take care of our County’s residents. I will vote for developments that make sense and actually improve our quality of life, not just line the pockets of large firms. My opponent says the Board of County Commission doesn’t have any control over tax incentives.

Fact: She voted to give a Chinese company, building near a US airbase, $34 million in tax incentives.

My opponent says she voted to increase the Johnson County budget by 46% in her short 4-year tenure because the "population has doubled.”

Fact: Johnson County has grown by roughly 2% in population in the last 4 years. The population has doubled since the 1980s - 40 years, not 4 years! So why has the budget grown by 46% under her watch? (The 2021 budget was $1.25 billion and the 2025 budget that was recently approved is for $1.83 billion = 46% increase in just 4 years!) Has your budget increased by 46% in the last 4 years?

My opponent says she doesn't have any control over your property taxes.

Fact: The County Commission controls roughly 20 - 25% of your tax bill through the Mill Levy. My opponent loves to quote that we have the "lowest Mill Levy in Kansas." Unfortunately, we have the most expensive homes in Kansas so lowering the Mill Levy even more is necessary for true tax relief. In 2023, Johnson County ranked in the 93rd percentile for property taxes burden per household…NATIONALLY! The highest in Kansas and one of the highest in the country! VOTE TONY BERGIDA FOR CHANGE!
