Today I joined our communities in Woodbury and Fairfield to commemorate the final emancipation on Juneteenth and the fight to make our nation’s founding ideals of equality and freedom real for all Americans. We are all created equal in the image of a loving God and our state and nation must recognize those truths always.

As your governor, I will start leading on day one to cut your taxes by thousands of dollars, reduce your electricity bill by 20 percent, and solve Connecticut’s cost of living crisis.

If it takes you 7.5 years to decide to study a problem as governor, you don’t need 4 more years to get the job done. It’s time for change!

CAP THE TAX: It’s about time we had a governor who understands that he works for the taxpayer and not the other way around.

When I’m Governor, we’ll CAP YOUR PROPERTY TAXES and eliminate unfunded mandates on our towns and cities to provide you relief. Property taxes should not be like a second mortgage to our seniors and working families. You shouldn’t have to work just to serve the government. We well make Connecticut affordable for you for years to come.

CAP THE TAX: “Property taxes are becoming the single biggest expense I have in a year.”

Paula Roche’s story is the same as so many Connecticut residents, in particular our seniors. They are being driven out of homes they’ve raised families in, forced to make personal budget cuts while “the state government never seems to” do the same.

“It’s like I work to service the government.”

Vincent Palumbo is a business owner who says he has paid over half a million dollars in taxes on his “normal” home and his small factory that employs 10 people in Hamden, where he’s been a lifelong resident.

That’s why I am proposing a four-part plan to end Connecticut’s property tax crisis and “Cap The Tax”!

âś…Eliminate Costly Unfunded Mandates
âś…Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) Reform
âś…Stable and Predictable Funding for Municipalities
âś…Cap Your Property Taxes

Other states have successfully implemented similar reforms and avoided the rapidly increasing property taxes that your family have been forced to pay in Connecticut. There is no good reason we cannot enact a property tax cap for your family and others across our state.

As tax bills continued to rise, meanwhile, Gov. Lamont has offered no vision or leadership to address the problem. He had eight years to act and chose not to. In fact, he has signed new unfunded mandates into law while short changing towns and cities of state funding. Gov. Lamont has made your property taxes higher over eight years.

You deserve positive change, affordability, and real leadership. As your governor, I’ll deliver that. It’s time for property tax relief in Connecticut.

Had a great day in Old Wethersfield yesterday, where we caught up with very friendly locals and were lucky to get an impromptu tour of George Washington’s quarters at the Silas Deane House — the room where he planned the Battle of Yorktown. The first President would stay at Deane House, which was built in 1766, during his famous visits to Connecticut and is one of our state’s proudest historical landmarks.

Amy & I were honored to attend the 2026 Heroes Gala: Paws, Hooves & Hope for a great organization, Veterans K9Equine Alliance. This community organization serves veterans’ healing through the care of service animals. They provide important care to the dogs and horses that aid veterans who sacrificed their health for our nation.

In Connecticut, we love our veterans. We have a responsibility to support them in return for all they’ve done for us—and we always will.
