Oliver Springs Fire Department Explorer Post #429 The Explorer Post #429 is assists youth in discovering a career in emergency services. The Explorer Post functions independently of the sponsoring agency.

The Oliver Springs Fire Department Explorer Post #429 is an organization that helps prepare youth of the community for a career in the emergency service field. The Explorer Program is run through the Boy Scouts of America in partnership with the Oliver Springs Fire Department. Members of the post are made up of youth ages 14-18 and is open to both males and females. The post members attend and com

plete training alongside the members of the Oliver Springs Fire Department and other emergency service organizations to prepare the member for a career in the Fire/Rescue or EMS career fields. Members receive training in basic first aid, CPR, HAZMAT Response, Structural Firefighting, Wildland Fire Fighting, Emergency Medical care and various other Technical Rescue disciplines. It has its own liability insurance provided by the Boy Scouts of America and all funding for the program must be raised by the members.

If you need a smoke detector and live within the Town of Oliver Springs, contact (865) 435-7777. The department provides and installs smoke detectors for free.

These young adults are learning valuable skills and lessons that will assist them in the future, as they are the future.
