Last week, I had the privilege of joining my colleagues from both sides of the aisle in a powerful listening session dedicated to our Ukrainian neighbors. This session was all about about unity, compassion, and action. I’m proud to live in a state that has opened its heart to Ukrainian refugees, embracing them as valuable members of our diverse communities. Let this be a reminder that, no matter our political affiliations, our shared humanity and compassion can bridge any divide. We're stronger when we work together.

SB 5231, sponsored by Sen. Jesse Salomon, clarifies the court’s authority in issuing pretrial no-contact orders and ensures prompt action is taken to protect victims of domestic violence. The bill has passed the Senate and is now moving to the House.

Today, we remember and honor the victims of the Holocaust. Today, and every day, we have the moral obligation to honor the victims, learn from the survivors and carry forth the lessons of such a heinous crime. In memory of the victims and in face of the rising bigotry, xenophobia, intolerance, and racism in our country it falls to each one of us to speak out against these hateful ideologies and uphold the values of equality, diversity and unity.

We cannot erase the horrors of the Holocaust, but we must stand together against hate now and in the future.
