This weekend, we celebrated the graduating class 26-1 from the Thurston County Fire Training Academy (TCFTA). We are proud of the 18 recruits who completed the Academy with grit, discipline, and dedication.

MBLFD is especially proud of our four recruits: FF Jon Walker, FF Christopher Redwine, FF Sam LeBlanc, and FF Isaiah Sheperd-Gaw. A special shoutout goes to Christopher “Kit” Redwine for earning Academy Valedictorian honors.

These four recruits will begin EMT school while starting their volunteer services with the Fire district. Congratulations recruits! We are so happy to have you aboard!





Guest speaker was Battalion Chief Andy Speier from MBLFD.

McLane Black Lake Fire Department along with Thurston county Medic One responded to a serious incident requiring advanced life support care. Responders provided immediate emergency medical care at the scene. Airlift Northwest was requested and provided rapid transport from McLane Elementary School.

As we continue through the remainder of the summer, we remind everyone in our community to please stay alert, avoid distractions, slow down, and operate vehicles safely. Taking a few extra minutes can make all the difference.

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TUESDAY TO 11 PM PDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Hot conditions with high temperatures up to 90 to 95 degrees expected and low temperatures from 58 to 60 degrees. This will pose a moderate risk of heat-related illness.

* WHERE...Foothills of the Western and Southern Olympic Peninsula, Middle Chehalis River Valley, Southern Hood Canal, Foothills and Valleys of Thurston and Lewis Counties, Lowlands of Lewis and Southern Thurston Counties, and Olympia and Southern Puget Sound.

* WHEN...From 10 AM Tuesday to 11 PM PDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Heat will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses for those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 911.
