🏛️ District 3 Alderperson Vacancy

The City of Onalaska is accepting applications to fill the District 3 Alderperson seat following the resignation of Alderperson Larry Jiracek.

📅 Application Deadline:
Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.

📄 How to Apply:
Submit a letter of interest and resume to the City Clerk's Office by the deadline.

🗣️ Interviews:
Applicants will be interviewed by the Mayor and Common Council on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.

✅ Appointment:
The Common Council will make the appointment at its September 8, 2026 meeting. The appointed alderperson will serve until the April 2027 election.

📍 Eligibility:
Applicants must be residents of District 3 and meet the qualifications required to serve as an alderperson under Wisconsin law. District maps are available on the City of Onalaska website.

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to tour the La Crosse County Jail with fellow County Board members. It was valuable to see the current conditions firsthand, talk with staff, and learn more about the proposed renovations being considered.

As the County Board considers a significant investment in the jail, I’m grateful for opportunities like this to ask questions, see the needs firsthand, and better understand what we’re being asked to fund.

The first meeting of La Crosse County's Data Center Study Committee is at 5:30 p.m., today (Wednesday, June 10) at the La Crosse County Administrative Center, 212 6th St. N., La Crosse. The committee will hear from a broad range of voices on data centers over the next 12 months before reporting back to the La Crosse County Board.

Congratulations to all the newly elected and re-elected local officials who are taking office this month! 14 of 30 La Crosse County Board Supervisors sworn in were women - including the Board Chair and Second Vice Chair. This is what representation looks like. 46.6% and counting!
