The N.C. Court of Appeals issued an order blocking the use of the UNC-Chapel Hill Mobile One Card (student and employee digital IDs) as a photo ID for voting.

Originally, a superior court upheld the use of the ID. The appeals court has reversed that decision and has ordered the ID not to be used. The decision is attached.

UNC-Chapel Hill students and employees may still use physical identification cards issued by the university.

A decision has not yet been made on an appeal. But, for now, the Mobile One Card cannot be accepted as photo ID for in-person or absentee voting. We are mindful of absentee voting that is currently occurring, ongoing poll worker training, absentee meetings that start next Tuesday, and the preparation of polling place materials. We will be in touch as soon as possible on whether there is an appeal filed and on updated guidance and voting site materials.

NCGOP 3rd District Chairman Dave Wickersham presented campaign contribution checks to U.S. Representative Dan Bishop and Lt. Governor Mark Robinson. Congressman Bishop is currently a U. S. Representative running for NC. Attorney General. The check presented to Lt. Governor Mark Robinson, who is running for NC Governor, is presented for the Council of State Campaign Fund. The monies donated were from funds earned through the fundraising efforts of the 3rd Congressional District Republican Party.

Urgent Message Concerning a new scam!

Some local Republicans are receiving "private" Facebook messages from a person portraying themself as RNC Chairman "Michael Whatley." During the course of these messages, the person posing as Michael Whatley is inviting them to a special event being held for Trump in their area. The person will not give the exact details on the event but is asking that you purchase a ticket for the event first and then you will be given the details. This is a SCAM. I have verified this through Michael Whatley's office. The RNC has reported the fake page and is urging everyone to ignore it. Jason Simmons, the NC State GOP Chairman has been made aware of the scam.

If you are contacted by this imposter, please ignore, delete and block the person. If you ae ever in doubt as to the validity of a communication asking for money, please contact your local GOP. They will know of any special events for Trum for your area.

Please join us in congratulating Bob Brinson as he was recently sworn in as NC State’s District 2 Senator during a ceremony last Friday at the Craven County Courthouse.

“I will have two priorities. The first is to continue to listen to constituents and governing bodies throughout this district to discern the issues facing us and their solutions,” Brinson wrote on social media. “The second will be to forge relationships and earn respect throughout the North Carolina Senate and House to enact legislation that will benefit Eastern North Carolina. Lawmakers east of 95 must work together to help our rural communities.” The 2nd District seat represents the counties of Lenoir, Beaufort, and Craven.

Previous to being sworn in as a NC Senator, Brinson was a New Bern Alderman for Ward 6.

Brinson will fill the vacant seat of Former District 2 NC State Senator Jim Perry, who served three terms. Perry announced his resignation early this month citing the demanding schedule and a desire to spend more time with his family.

Brinson recently won the Republican Primary for the newly drawn NC State Senate, District 3, which will still represent Lenoir, Beaufort, and Craven counties.

Present at the swearing in ceremony was Bob's wife, and NC Representative Keith Kidwell, State Senator Norman Sanderson, and NC GOP 3rd CD Chairman, Dave Wickersham.
