“You never forget where you came from.” ⚾️ That’s how Jonathan Vazquez summed up his Saturday working the grounds at Azalea Park Little League as a volunteer. He was 6 years old when he started playing here. Now he’s a high school senior… a talented catcher waiting on college prospects. Over the years, my friend Earl Lugo has coached, managed and mentored hundreds of kids on these fields… working in the spirit of his idol, Roberto Clemente. ⚾️ We were the visiting team this weekend… but I was rooting for both sides. ❤️ Orange County, Florida Mayra Uribe #LiveUnited Heart of Florida

After seeing a number of our County-issued trash cans with damage, I have sought to understand why this is happening and I believe I have found a (possible) answer. PROBLEM: Damage to trash cans (e.g. busted lids and wheels) POTENTIAL CAUSE: The operator fails to allow the loading mechanism to fully put the can back down before driving off to the next house. Subsequently, the lids get caught in the truck's loading arm and/or the can's wheels are bent sideways as the can is still being lowered while simultaneously being dragged along the curb / street. SOLUTION: Instruct the drivers to allow time for the truck to fully release the can before driving off. BENEFITS: While it is understandable the drivers may want to hurry the process, thereby allowing them to service more homes in less time, enacting the aforementioned policy would save the additional expense of replacing County property prior to its anticipated shelf life. In other words, the additional 1-2 seconds of time per household would certainly outweigh the expense of purchasing more equipment. Just a suggestion by a concerned citizen. ------------------------------------------------------- I sent this message to Orange County Solid Waste to advise them about a problem I've noticed in our area. To be clear, my intent was not to be cynical or snarky but to address a real concern and bundle my observations with a potential solution. I hope it was received as intended.

Really Commissioner Uribe? You want to ban the ONLY REGULATED SOURCE of Puppies for citizens in Orange County FL? Your own Health Services Department gave all the data you need to see that Pet Store Puppies are healthy. 99% of Puppies Sold in Orange County Pet Stores in 2020 were healthy. If you ban the ONLY REGULATED SOURCE OF PUPPIES, you will allow puppy mills to thrive in Orange County. Please refer us to attorney for the following ..... April Huchthausen (Florida, Orange Co inmate 21010196) was arrested on 30th April. Then on May 12th She was scheduled for a remote zoom hearing with Wisconsin Court on 12th May where her warrants would have been quashed and she could have then bonded out of jail. However, Orange County Corrections (specifically C.O. Husein) made a mistake in the timing of the hearing and connected April to the zoom two hours after the hearing adjourned. As a result additional warrants were issued for bail jumping, and the next hearing was scheduled for 8th June. April therefore had to spend an additional month in jail because of the incompetence of Corrections Officer Hussein who made a mistake in the hearing time. April was thus improperly deprived of her civil right of freedom for an extra 28 days, and demands compensation. We also feel C.O. Husein should be incarcerated for 28 days so she understands the significance of her mistake.
Hello, Commissioner. Could the county review traffic flow at Hoffner and Conway? There are no safe options left for turning north from the northeast corner. Surely there are better options than current alignments and the temporary blockages. THANKS. Appreciate you.
