I so admire the work of Live On New York who came by my office along with the Transplant Support Organization to present me with an award for my advocacy for the cause of organ donation.

In the first 6 months of 2022, Live On New York has seen a 33% increase in organ donors, a 32% increase in tissue donors and a 40% increase in organs transplanted. Still, there are 8,329 New Yorkers awaiting an organ.

Yesterday I joined the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Senator Pete Harckham, and other local elected officials to celebrate the end of a multi-year herbicide treatment at Croton River and transition from active management to monitoring as no more hydrilla (an invasive species) has been detected there. This is a win for our local waterways and could not have been achieved without the support of the DEC.

Last week I received my flu shot and I plan to receive a COVID booster shot in two weeks. This newest COVID booster reportedly protects you against long COVID which is very encouraging.

Last night I attended the Historic Hudson Valley's Great Jack O'Lantern Pumpkin Blaze. I try to attend this special event annually and every year I find something new to see as I walk through the maze of carved pumpkins. As a gardener, I especially appreciated the tulips and sunflowers. I encourage everyone to take a look for yourself since it is right in our backyard, Happy early Halloween

I was proud to honor the wonderful students who have benefited from their participation in Latino U College Access at White Plains High School yesterday. The program originated with students from Ossining in 2012. This past fiscal year, the Assembly and Senate made a $350K investment to expand the program to Peekskill and other Westchester communities in order to create more equity in higher education for Latino students.
