We are working to recall the Pacifica School Board for lack of transparency, waste of taxpayer dollars and overall lack of leadership. We need a board that thinks long-term and can be proactive instead of reactive. Let's bring positive change to all of Pacifica. This affects us all. I want to take a moment to celebrate the tremendous accomplishments of our Recall effort and extend heartfelt congratulations to everyone who stood with us. While we did not reach the goal of 5,200 signatures, what we did achieve is far more meaningful.

Through dedication, collaboration, and courage, we have awakened awareness across our community and inspired real change within our Pacific school district. The progress we’ve already seen - improvements, accountability, and responsiveness are a direct result of your voices and your commitment. That impact is truly priceless.

This movement has proven that when a community unites for what’s right, meaningful change begins. The efforts are not over, we must continue to stay engaged. Attend board meetings, stay informed, participate in the upcoming Pacifica School District Board of Trustees November 2026 elections, and keep speaking up.

We are the stakeholders. We are the difference-makers. And together, we are shaping a better future for our children, our schools, and our entire community. Let’s keep the momentum going, change is within reach!

No Transparency - Lack of true engagement
Parents and community members have asked for transparency for years - yet the board consistently fails to communicate clearly or transparently. Major decisions are made quietly in small committees, with little to no public discussion at monthly board meetings. Most recently, as budget issues mounted and school reconfigurations were on the table, the board did nothing to ensure that these district issues were made public!
The ones most impacted are our students, our teachers, and our schools, which ultimately affect the entire community of Pacifica.
No real discussion takes place.
No Transparency. Which means they get away with....
No Accountability.
Pacifica deserves better. We need simple, open dialogue.
We are done asking. No more surprises. It’s time for positive change.

The Pacifica School District Board allows public comment only in person, unless a board member attends via Zoom. Comment cards must be submitted before 6 p.m., which may make participation difficult for some community members (disabilities, commuters, children with disabilities etc..)

Currently, statements to the board are not public unless made in person. While the board receives emails, they are not part of the public record, making it difficult for the community to identify patterns or ongoing concerns. The board could consider publishing written communications with meeting minutes, as done by the City of Pacifica and the San Mateo School Board, to improve transparency and accessibility.

Although the policy may address safety concerns, Zoom provides secure options like pre-registration and camera-on requirements. It also allows quick moderation, making it a safe and inclusive way to expand public participation.

Of course, there are also concerns on transparency with this LACK of documentation.
