Well, it looks like we won this. I know I could never have done this by myself. And to tell you the truth, I wouldn’t want to. I have to thank everybody who came out for me, set up for me, supported me, spoke up for me, and gave me a wonderful feeling about what we’re trying to do here at Bonsall Unified School District. I must apologize for all those I might miss when I thank you. I ran for this seat before and was appointed to the board. The last time I ran, I ran unopposed. My feeling was that this is easy. This time, I had an opponent; to tell you the truth, I had no idea how to campaign. The community must have read my mind because the help came. The Bonsall Teachers Association was the first to approach me and offer support.
I cannot thank them enough for all the support they provided, from communicating with one another about canvassing to getting members out there knocking on doors. The Pala Band of Mission Indians also showed tremendous support. I received constant reminders to keep my eye on the prize and not to give up. The Fallbrook Democratic Party was helpful in its advice, support, and information. I must also mention all the staff, community members, teachers, parents, and some students who came out to show support. The race was close, so I knew I needed all that help and support. I was also grateful for the community members I met while going door to door with the teachers and all the people asking about the race and school issues. That communication with the community was enlightening and encouraging. It was also incredible to see all the people who came together in support. Some told me the teachers would hold signs at the schools, and I said I would join them. The best part was seeing teachers, staff, and parents from Pala and Bonsall coming together to support us. It was awesome. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I want to thank Ms. Estee Backe for turning my words into an incredible message on our page, Instagram, and newspaper articles. That effort was just awesome. She always had words of wisdom and support when I needed it. She kept me informed about community responses and opinions. Thank you very much. Also, I would like to thank all our supporters, of which a few are mentioned here: Bonsall Teachers Association, American Association of University Women (Fallbrook Chapter), friend and mentor Lou Riddle, Carlsbad Unified School Board President Kathy Rallings, Pala Band of Mission Indians, Robert Smith, Chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians, Fallbrook/Bonsall Democratic Club, San Diego County Democrats, Fallbrook Union High School Trustee, Tauna Rodarte, and also Dr. Erin English, former BUSD school board trustee, who was there with her wonderful words of encouragement. I want to thank my family for all their support.
I would like to add that we will need everyone's continued support as we enter next term. We will face new challenges to provide a quality and supportive education for all of our students.
