I filed a Marchman Act petition for my husband in Florida. The judge agreed he was in danger and needed help, and the police were ordered to detain him and bring him to circles of care.
36 hours later, he was released. Not because the judge was wrong. Not because he didn't need help. But because there was NO SECURE FACILITY to send him to.

In fact, he was released to go find a treatment center, by himself.

HERE'S THE THING:
Florida is actually AHEAD of most states - at least we have the Marchman Act giving families legal rights to intervene. Most states don't even have that.
But even Florida's system is broken without secure treatment facilities.
THAT'S WHY CIVIL ARREST FOR ADDICTION MUST BE NATIONAL:
✅ Complete Florida's Marchman Act with secure facilities
✅ Create similar frameworks in states that have nothing
✅ Give EVERY American family the power to save their loved ones

The Marchman Act was visionary in 1993. Now it's 2025, and we're in a full-blown addiction crisis. It's time to finish what Florida started - and expand it nationwide.

WHY I STARTED THIS COALITION

My name is Breanna, and I woke up crying this morning. Not because I'm weak, but because I'm living a nightmare that thousands of families face every day.

My husband has been struggling with addiction. For over a year, I've watched him disappear into drugs while I had ZERO legal options to help him. The system forced me to choose between:

❌ Let him stay and destroy our family ❌ Kick him out and watch him die on the streets
❌ Wait helplessly until he commits a crime and goes to prison

THERE HAS TO BE A FOURTH OPTION.

That's why I'm creating the Civil Arrest for Addiction Coalition. We're going to advocate for legislation that gives families the legal power to petition courts for secure treatment intervention BEFORE tragedy strikes.

The Civil Arrest for Addiction Act would: ✅ Let families present evidence to civil courts ✅ Provide secure, long-term treatment in county jail facilities
✅ Focus on healing, not punishment ✅ Give families their power back
