Speaking of those deleted emails, here's one the former city manager deleted.

Why does it matter? It added $3 million to the cost of the library project. The mayor, the former city manager, and the now-retired community development director were all involved with this.

Do you know who wasn't? The city council...the ones who had already approved a design AND budget. By the time this collusion was discovered, it was not possible to change the design without costing the city $1 million to revert it back because of work ordered by the manager and community development director when they withheld the unauthorized design change (and budget changes).

The mayor certainly didn't speak up, and in a meeting later in the fall of 2024, Gary Wolf confirmed the mayor was aware of these changes. We won't be surprised when we figure out other things like this that were done in those backdoor meetings. Its only millions of your tax dollars.

Mayor Steve Carrington has violated public trust by abusing executive authority—most notably by unlawfully hiring outside legal counsel without council approval to handle the departure of the city manager. This misuse of power is not only a breach of city procedures, but a violation of Alaska state law.

Our campaign seeks to uphold the principles of good governance by demanding transparency and ethical leadership. Palmer deserves a mayor who respects the law, honors the voice of the people, and works in partnership with the city council—not around them.

We believe in local leadership that serves all citizens of Palmer, not personal agendas. Join us as we take a stand for responsible government.

Many people say that Steve Carrington has served the city for years, and cannot believe he would be mixed up in anything unethical. Unfortunately, his actions tell quite a different story. Don't take our word for it. You can see it for yourself.
