Walnut caterpillars feed on trees like English walnuts, butternuts, pecans, and various species of hickory. Their feeding can cause significant defoliation. 🐛🌳

Thankfully, all of our hickory and walnut trees have already produced and dropped plenty of nuts for our squirrels to gather and cache for winter this year! 🐿️🌰

I’ve been using trail cameras since I moved here four years ago, and we’ve always had 2 sometimes 3 coyotes showing up together. One of them has been limping for the past two years.
I caught 2 of the 3 on the Snapshot NY camera. They’re pretty far away in these videos, but one of them does come up closer to the camera. 🐺

And of course, Mama Meeko made another appearance. 🦝 She was caught with one of her three babies enjoying all the wild cherries that have fallen. Apparently, the cherry buffet is still open! 🍒

First wildlife pictures on our Snapshot NY trail camera! 📸🦝🦌🌿

I swear I changed the date and time on the camera when I set it up, but apparently I’ll have to redo that. 😂

The camera is also a little crooked thanks to one of Mama Meeko’s babies inspecting it. Apparently, quality control is very important around here. 😂🦝

The Viceroy butterfly is a fascinating example of protective mimicry. It looks remarkably similar to the Monarch butterfly, a species known for being toxic and distasteful to predators.

Unlike the Monarch, the Viceroy is not toxic, so its resemblance helps make predators think twice before taking a bite.

While I was filling the food stations, this little stinker helped themselves to every single nut in my bowl. 😂 I didn’t hear a thing until the very end, and by the time I looked over… p**f! Empty bowl.

These little chipmunks need to eat too, but they are ALWAYS up to some kind of mischief. 😂 At least the squirrels have the decency to wait their turn! 🐿️🤣
