Panama was founded in 1906 when the Shoal Creek Coal Company o

f Chicago sunk a coal mine shaft here. The town attracted many European immigrants during the mining boom (the mine closed in 1933). Two-thirds of the village is in Montgomery County, with the remainder in Bond County. As of the census of 2010, the population was 343.

We’re doing a major cleanup at the church building today. Everything we’re sitting in the lawn is available for free if anyone wants it even if they just wanna scrap it. Anything that’s left at the end of the day will be going in the dumpster.
