Wishing everyone a very happy Juneteenth! Today we celebrate the emancipation of African Americans from Slavery. We celebrate because on June 18th 1865, 2 years after emancipation, Union troops marched on Galveston, Texas to ensure that Americans were finally set free. June 19th the freed men and women celebrated their newfound freedom that had been kept from them. While the complete end of slavery would come to an end in December of 1865 with the ratification of the 13th amendment, this day is often pointed to as the moment that morality would set the tone for such ratification. This is a dark part of our history that we must never forget. Yet, the light of joy that comes from the Freedom we must also never let dim!

We at the Henry County Democratic Party support and fight for betterment for Tennesseans especially at a time when our own State Legislature and those of others pass discriminatory maps aimed at disenfranchising based on race. We continue to stride towards the version of America who learns from its mistakes and celebrates the end of divisive and inhumane practices! To the members of our community we will always be here to serve you! To those who have held and passed down this history for generations to ensure we all remember we are in awe of you. And for those are old enough to have heard these stories from your own parents, we mourn for you as well.

Together we create a better America. Together we create stronger communities. So let’s be the roots sprouted from the seed planted over 100 years ago. Happy Juneteenth & God Bless America 🇺🇸

There has been discussion about the possibility of a data center coming to our community. While some see potential economic benefits, many residents have raised questions about what it could mean for Henry County in the long run.

Data centers can require significant amounts of electricity ⚡, water 💧, and infrastructure. They can also have lasting impacts on the communities where they're built.

Before any decisions are made, we think it's important to ask:

❓ Is a data center something Henry County actually wants?
❓ Are the potential benefits worth the costs?
❓ What concerns do you have about bringing a large-scale data center here?

The weekend is finally here, and our Military Care Package Drive kicks off at 10:00 AM! We’ll be at the Paris Tn, Eiffel Tower Park (1020 Maurice Fields Dr, Paris, TN 38242)

Today is an opportunity to give back to the brave men and women who have given so much in service to our country. Let’s come together as a community, united by gratitude and respect for those who stand watch over our freedoms.

Whether you’re donating supplies, lending a helping hand, or simply showing your support, every contribution makes a difference. Let’s share a little of that Southern hospitality and remind our service members that their sacrifices are appreciated and remembered.
