Weather dependent, Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026, a scheduled water outage will occur in the highlighted area to perform maintenance on the new water main. We anticipate the disruption of water service will be between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please be prepared to be without water on this day.
After restoration of water service, you may experience discolored water for up to 24 hours.

Due to new water main installations, the following roads will be closed on Tuesday 9/1 and Thursday 9/3 during working hours. They will reopen each day when work is completed.
Blackhawk: Shabbona to Indianwood
Somonauk: Sangamon to Miami

Storm Debris Cleanup Schedule Update 🌳

The Village of Park Forest is continuing its communitywide cleanup following the severe storms that left downed trees and branches throughout the Village.

Public Works crews are working through Park Forest in sections to collect storm-related tree and branch debris placed along the parkway. To help residents know when crews are expected in their area, the Village has established the following tentative collection schedule:

🟢 Aug. 17-23: Areas east of Orchard Drive and north of the Old Plank Road Trail - (complete)

🔵 Week of Aug. 23: Areas south of the Old Plank Road Trail and north of Sauk Trail

🟠 Week of Aug. 31: Areas south of Sauk Trail and west of Indianwood Boulevard

🟣 Week of Sept. 7: Areas south of Sauk Trail and east of Indianwood Boulevard

Residents are asked to avoid parking vehicles in front of debris piles so Public Works crews and contracted equipment can safely access and remove the material.

The schedule is approximate and may change depending on the amount of debris crews encounter, weather conditions, and the pace of collection. Residents are encouraged to leave properly placed storm debris accessible until crews reach their area.

Water Main Replacement Update (Miami Street): Work continues on Somonauk Street. However, the installation work will now expand to include Miami Street beginning next week.

⛈️ STORM UPDATE | Aug. 11, 2026 | 12:22 p.m.

The Village of Park Forest is assessing conditions throughout the community following today’s severe weather. Village crews and first responders are responding to storm-related issues as they are reported.

Residents are encouraged to remain cautious and follow these safety reminders:

⚡ Stay away from downed or hanging power lines. Always assume downed wires are live and dangerous. Power outages and electrical issues should be reported directly to ComEd at 800-334-7661.

🌳 Report trees or large branches blocking Village streets to the Park Forest Public Works Department at 708-503-7702. Residents should bring their tree branches to the parkways for collection.

🌊 Avoid flooded streets and standing water. Never attempt to walk or drive through floodwaters, which may hide debris, downed electrical lines, or other hazards.

🔥 If you smell natural gas, leave the area immediately and contact Nicor Gas at 888-642-6748.

❤️ Please check on neighbors, loved ones, seniors, and anyone who may need additional assistance following the storm.

🚨 For life-threatening situations or other emergencies, call 911.

The Village will continue monitoring conditions and provide additional information as necessary. Please remain alert and use caution while traveling throughout Park Forest.

Tuesday, August 11th, as efforts continue with demolition of Blackhawk Plaza, water services near Blackhawk and Indianwood Blvd. may be disrupted to disconnect water lines to the former plaza. This disruption is expected to start at 8:00am.

Monday, August 10th, Public Works will perform the first tie-in for the water main project on Somonauk Street. Residents in the immediate area are expected to be without water services from 8am-4pm while work is performed. Residents may also experience discolored water. Water Main Installation Update: New Water Main installation is expected to begin on Monday, July 13th. Construction crews will begin working on Somonauk Street, between Shabbona and Mantua. Expect delays traveling through this area.
