SW Resources was founded in 1964 by an organization now known as The Arc and the Junior League of Parkersburg, West Virginia. From a modest beginning in a converted store front building, and growing through several rocky and unsuccessful years, SW Resources now occupies three buildings, including a 18,000 square foot warehouse. Through the years, the organization grew thanks to our commitment to q

uality services, the help and tremendous support of our volunteers, the generosity of our local community, and the dedication of both our talented staff and client employees. Current divisions include SW Graphics, Mail Plus, Cardability, Marble Tree, SW Industries and the Burdette Rehabilitation Center.

In 2025, just 22.8% of people with disabilities age 16 and older were employed, compared with 65.2% of people without disabilities.

That gap represents more than a statistic. It represents talented individuals who deserve the opportunity to contribute and be part of a workplace where their abilities are valued.

🩵 Throwback Thursday 🩵

Sometimes the best memories aren't made during the biggest moments.

They're made while wandering through a museum, discovering something unexpected, sharing a laugh with a friend, or simply enjoying the chance to experience something new together.

This photo takes us back to last December, when several of our participants spent the day exploring Discovery World in Parkersburg. Looking back, it's easy to remember the exhibits and activities, but what stays with us most is seeing curiosity come alive and friendships grow.

Community outings like this are about more than where we go.

They're about creating opportunities to build confidence, strengthen connections, and remind every participant that they belong wherever curiosity leads them.

That's what makes these moments worth remembering.

Congrats to Jason for graduating from our Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Transitional Employment program! ⭐

The SUD Transitional Employment program supports recovery by offering income, training, and support services to overcome barriers to long-term employment. It aims to provide post-recovery stability, additional skills to prevent relapse, and education on life skills to enable participants to be employed, contribute to the community, and mentor others with substance use disorder.

Our mission-based mindset allows for individuals to strengthen and grow their vocational skills, with opportunities to advance within our company or the community. Additionally, we offer a variety of support groups, enrichment programs, and assessments to help individuals achieve their goals. Our team includes case managers, behavior support professionals, job coaches, and direct support providers who assist in evaluations, assessments, and training.

🩵Throwback Thursday🩵

Earlier this year, while our team was filming Ellie's story for her Award Dinner, someone captured this quiet moment between Ellie (right) and Katie (left).

At the time, no one realized this candid photo would tell a story of its own.

Katie was recognized last year as Goodwill's 2024 Achiever of the Year, and Ellie was honored earlier this year as Goodwill's 2025 Graduate of the Year. Their stories are different, but they're woven together through SW Resources. Today, Katie helps others find the same hope she once found. Years after beginning her own journey at SW Resources, she had the opportunity to walk alongside Ellie as she pursued meaningful employment in the community. Looking back at this photo, it's hard not to see the ripple effect of believing in people.

At first glance, it's just a conversation.

But to us, it's something much bigger.

It's a snapshot of everything SW Resources stands for.

It's resilience meeting resilience.

It's hope standing beside hope.

Their stories have inspired thousands, but together they remind us of something that's always been true about West Virginia: we're at our best when we believe in one another. We celebrate perseverance, we show up in life's hardest moments, and we understand that success isn't defined by where someone starts. It's defined by the courage to keep moving forward.

The cameras were there to tell Ellie's story, but this photo reminds us that stories like hers don't happen alone. They're woven together through people who believe in one another. 💙
