We will meet tomorrow night at 6PM. Weather permitting will be at the shelter behind the school. We will meet at the Ruritan across the street if it is raining.

Bring your compasses if you have them we will be working on some basic orienteering as part of the meeting.

We will also be making final plans for this coming weekend. The District Camporee has been cancelled so we will be doing a trip of our own. I am working on setting up a river trip. The current plan is canoes and kayaks. We also have the picnic at the Morganton Lenoir Airport next Sunday. We will go over that as well.

Got plans for Labor Day Weekend?
Want to go to a music festival…for free?
How about getting a free meal while you are there?
Boy Scout Troop 299 can make it happen!
The troop is doing a fundraiser at the Happy Valley Fiddlers Convention and we need your help!
We need Volunteers to help run our concessions tent. We are asking for people who can work a three hour shift on Saturday 9/3 and/or Sunday 9/4. We will start work at 6:00 AM and wrap up at 9:00 PM on Saturday and on Sunday we start at 6:00 AM and wrap up when the convention ends. Those who volunteer will receive a wrist band which gives them festival admission for the entire day they volunteer and the Scouts will provide you with a meal, breakfast, lunch or supper for that day as well.
If you are interested please message the troop page and one of the leaders will contact you as soon as possible. Volunteers will be accepted until needs are met and on a first come, first served basis.

Parents thank you for letting your sons go with us this week. Please pass this on to them if they are not on Facebook.

Thanks to all the boys for their hard work this week. I hope you all had fun. I also hope you learned a major life lesson, never give up! Pick yourself up, dust your self off and keep trying just like many of you did this week. Look at what you accomplished when you did

Passing the Swim Test
Earning the Swimming Merit Badge
Sleeping in the woods overnight with just a tarp.
Winning a race even though you fell.
Coming in second when your team has never been in a canoe together.

I am very proud of all of you! Have a good holiday week and see you at our next meeting Monday July 10 at the Ruritan building.

So unless there was some type of disqualification that we were not made aware of, the team of Max, Daniel and Jake just won the camp relay race with a time of 7:21:15
