This week the Ohio Secretary of State office is sending absentee ballot applications to vote by mail to all registered voters. This is not a new process (SOS office has been mailing applications for even year general elections, for nearly a decade - 2012) and it doesn’t mean that this is your only option for voting! Do not return the application if you want to vote either by early in-person or on November 3rd, Election Day, at your voting location. DO RETURN the completed application if you want to receive your ballot at home. You can use the office ballot drop box for both your application and later for your ballot if you don’t want to mail either of them. If there is an issue with receiving your ballot in the mail, please give the office a call (419)399-8230.
EDIT: October 6th is the first day Board of Elections’ offices may begin to mail ballots to voters that have mailed or dropped off their absentee ballot application to the office. Voters may track your absentee ballot application date received and processed by the office; and ballot mailed out date and date voted ballot is received by the office on the office website. Website is updated every day.
