Interim Superintendent Bucks scandal over the allegations of, now proven factual, plagiarism places the City of Pawtucket in the local, and national media spotlight.
Pawtucket and State educational leader's, school administrator's, and superintendent's need to be held to the highest level of accountability. It this case it would extend to Mr. Buck, as well and those, if any, knowingly covering up such allegations from the public.
The City of Pawtucket, nor the Pawtucket School Committee has acknowledged that these allegations of plagiarism were made weeks ago, via Allentowns, PA, school attorney correspondence, to the PSD.
The PSC continues to take no action, to date, even now when the plagiarism allegations made weeks ago have now been proven to be factual.
This is a horrible message, and example for the City of Pawtucket, the PSC, and the PSD to set for the school students of Pawtucket. What kind of message is being sent to the parents of school students who entrust the City of Pawtucket and the PSC to appoint/hire a school superintendent that has educational/academic integrity and educational leadership required to run Pawtucket schools appropriately.
To accomplish this, one should start by leading the Pawtucket school system by example.
To lead by example, in this case, will require acknowledgement, by Mr Buck, that he plagiarized his 25 -26 Back to School speech.
The PSC needs to hand down an appropriate consequence to Mr. Buck for unethical behavior unbecoming of, and the breach of educational/academic integrity and trust by making such a mistaken choice of actions.
In Rhode Island, the interim superintendent for the Pawtucket School Department plagiarized a welcome-back address. However, the department is protecting him.
