🌺 A splash of red along the canyon!

This striking wildflower appears to be cardinal monkeyflower (Erythranthe cardinalis), a native species commonly found in moist places such as streambanks, springs, seeps, and canyon walls throughout the Southwest.

Fun fact: Its bright red, tubular flowers are specially suited for hummingbird pollination! Hummingbirds are attracted to the vivid red blooms and transfer pollen from flower to flower as they feed on the nectar.

Small streams and springs can support an incredible diversity of plant life across Hualapai lands. 🌿💧We at Natural Resources work hard to protect this habitats for our people and wildlife.

Sign up will start at 2pm and we will have a SAFETY CLASS for the children and beginners starting at 2:15pm
If you have your own Bow and arrows that you would like to bring, you are more than welcome to bring them.
For your own set ups please bring your own chairs,tables, and canopies
Participants who sign up will also be eligible for a raffle 🎟️

Join us for the Hualapai Days Archery Competition on September 24, 2026 at 3:00 PM at the 4H Building in Peach Springs!

🎯 Competition Categories:
• Ages 5–8
• Ages 9–13
• Ages 14–Adult
🏆 Prizes for each category + raffle prizes!

🛍️ WE’RE ALSO LOOKING FOR VENDORS!
Come set up during the Archery Competition and showcase your food, crafts, merchandise, or other goodies to the community. Vendor space is limited, so sign up soon! Vendor setup begins at 2:30 PM.

🌧️ Recent rains are bringing water back into our washes. This video shows water beginning to move through a wash—a reminder that conditions can change quickly.

⚠️ Please use caution around washes and low-lying areas. Flash flooding can develop with little warning, and water may rise rapidly even if it is not raining where you are.

For your safety:

* Never drive through flooded roads or crossings.
* Keep children and pets away from flowing washes.
* Avoid walking or recreating in drainage areas during or after heavy rainfall.
* Stay weather-aware and follow local alerts.

When in doubt, stay out and stay safe.

When you’re trying to document wildlife behavior… but the wildlife starts twerking. 😂🐦

This little Spotted Sandpiper may look like it’s showing off some dance moves, but that constant bobbing is actually one of the species’ most recognizable behaviors. Spotted Sandpipers frequently teeter their bodies and bob their tails as they walk along shorelines and search for food.

We’re not saying it was twerking for the camera… but the timing was pretty good. 😂
