Traffic Pattern Update – Effective March 27, 2026

Please be advised that a traffic pattern change will take effect in the Twin Oaks Subdivision beginning Friday, March 27, 2026.

Currently, traffic on 214th Street and 214th Terrace yields to vehicles on Oak Ridge Street. Under the new configuration, stop signs will be installed on Oak Ridge Street, designating it as the minor street. Traffic on 214th Street and 214th Terrace will become free-flowing as the primary route.

This adjustment is being implemented to align with established traffic engineering standards and to enhance overall safety within the area.

We appreciate your attention and cooperation as these changes are put into place.

Rain days don’t mean days off around here. 🌧️

While we may not be out tackling full projects, we’re putting in the work behind the scenes — maintaining our tools, equipment, and shop that take a beating when we’re out getting the job done. Keeping everything in top shape ensures we’re ready to roll when the weather clears.

At the same time, some of our crews are still out there replacing damaged signs and completing utility work orders to keep things running safely and smoothly.

Rain or shine, the work never stops.

Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) Project Notice

A Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) project is currently underway to revitalize and restore aging, damaged clay sewer pipes throughout the older parts of town. This project will strengthen our wastewater collection system and reduce infiltration, helping optimize operations at our Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Residents and businesses may experience a slight temporary disruption in sewer service while work is being completed.

The contractor, SAK Construction, will place door hangers at each home or business that will be affected. These notices will include important instructions. Please read the door hanger carefully.

You will be given an 8-hour window during which you may flush toilets, but you should NOT run showers, washing machines, dishwashers, or any appliances that discharge large amounts of water into the sewer system. Doing so could cause sewer backups inside your home or business.

Public Works will not always know the contractor’s exact location at all times. It is important to regularly check your door for a hanger if you live in the older sections of town. If you see contractor trucks in front of your house or business, please check for a notice — it is likely your property is scheduled for work.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work to improve our community’s infrastructure.

🚧 Old Towne Sewer Line Work – What Homeowners Should Know

Contractors will be flushing and inspecting sewer lines in the Old Towne area as part of ongoing system improvements.

During cleaning, some homes without a backflow preventer may notice water coming up from drains. Backflow preventers are required in newer construction and are the homeowner’s responsibility to install and maintain.

⚠️ This is not sewage — it is typically just water sitting in your P-traps.

If this happens, it’s a sign you should:
• Contact a licensed plumber
• Confirm your backflow preventer is working properly
• Install one if your home does not have one

Backflow preventers protect your home from potential sewer backups and are an important safeguard.

Thank you for your patience as we continue improving the system to protect our community.

If you have questions about the work happening in Old Towne, please contact Public Works.

đźš˝ Think Before You Flush

Wipes, facial tissues, and paper towels may say “flushable,” but they are not biodegradable like toilet paper.

Here’s what really happens:
• They catch in your home’s pipes
• They clog City sewer lines
• They jam lift station pumps

On the City system, pumps have to be pulled out with a lift truck and manually cleared 2–3 times per month.

đź’° Each cleanup costs about $2,000.
That adds up to $50,000+ per year — money that could be spent improving our community instead. (really photos from our system shown)

Today we cleaned out a pipe blockage in a brand new subdivision that was clogged entirely from wipes.

But it doesn’t stop there.

These clogs can also happen on the homeowner’s side. When that happens, repairs and cleanup are at the homeowner’s expense — and they can be costly.

Just because it says “flushable” doesn’t mean it should be flushed.

đźš« Only flush toilet paper.
đź—‘ Trash wipes, tissues, and paper towels.

No Wipes Down the Pipes — It Starts With You.
