On behalf of American Legion Pelham Post 50, I would like to express my gratitude to each one of you who donated to the fundraising drive which was conducted for the Veterans Food Pantry at the Bronx VA Medical Center. This past Wednesday, I accompanied the four outstanding Pelham Middle School Eighth Grade Students, Liam Mcdermott, Brooks Horten, Luca Treves and Gavin Bower who led this fundraising drive to drop off the collected items at the hospital. The students coordinated efforts with Pelham’s own American Legion Post 50 to facilitate a contribution of approximately $3,000.00 in combined cash, clothing and non-perishable food items.

Food and Clothing Drive for Veterans This Weekend and Next at Gazebo Park
Please come by Pelham’s Gazebo Park this weekend where American Legion Post 50 members and Pelham Middle School students will be collecting food and clothing items to supply the Bronx Veterans Medical Center’s food pantry. The Veterans Hospital Food Pantry services veterans struggling with food insecurity and homelessness. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to the hospital, please make your check payable to James J Peters VA Medical Center. We can also accept gift card donations. We will be delivering the donations to the Veterans Hospital during the week of May 11th. For drop-offs outside of the collection times, please DM Phillip Kiamie.

Calling Parents & Guardians of 11th Grade Boys!

The American Legion Boys State of New York is now accepting applications —
sponsored locally by Pelham Post 50 — and we want to invite high school juniors to apply for this extraordinary leadership opportunity!
Watch this short video to see what Boys State is all about:
https://youtu.be/HtCWveGB264
Boys State is a week-long, immersive citizenship and leadership program where students learn how government really works by building and operating their own city, county, and state governments — with real elections, responsibilities, and peer
leadership.
Why this opportunity is so valuable:
 Hands-on leadership & civic skills — not just through conversation and lecture, but by doing!
 Boost your college applications — including this experience in college applications stands out because it shows initiative, civic engagement, and leadership.
 Exceptional support staff & counselors — including American Legion volunteers, Marines, educators, and community leaders who guide and mentor
throughout the week.
 Meet peers from across New York, form lifelong connections, and gain
confidence in public speaking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
 Fully immersive civic experience — you’ll participate in mock government, party conventions, legislative sessions, and more.

Boys State will take place from Saturday June 27th to Thursday July 2nd at Morrisville State College. It is a prestigious and rewarding summer experience that many students list on college
applications and resumes.
And it’s free of charge! Your local American Legion Post 50 pays for the experience, but we must hear from you ASAP if you are interested so that we may interview you sometime over the next two weeks.
For details and to apply, contact Pelham Post 50 at [email protected] today. You may also contact Phillip Kiamie, the leader of Pelham Post 50 directly at [email protected].
Help us spread the word — this could be one of the most impactful weeks of your son’s high school career!
