Calling Parents & Guardians of 11th Grade Boys!
The American Legion Boys State of New York is now accepting applications —
sponsored locally by Pelham Post 50 — and we want to invite high school juniors to apply for this extraordinary leadership opportunity!

Boys State is a week-long, immersive citizenship and leadership program where students learn how government really works by building and operating their own city, county, and state governments — with real elections, responsibilities, and peer
leadership.
Why this opportunity is so valuable:
Hands-on leadership & civic skills — not just through conversation and lecture, but by doing!
Boost your college applications — including this experience in college applications stands out because it shows initiative, civic engagement, and leadership.
Exceptional support staff & counselors — including American Legion volunteers, Marines, educators, and community leaders who guide and mentor
throughout the week.
Meet peers from across New York, form lifelong connections, and gain
confidence in public speaking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Fully immersive civic experience — you’ll participate in mock government, party conventions, legislative sessions, and more.
Boys State will take place from Saturday June 27th to Thursday July 2nd at Morrisville State College. It is a prestigious and rewarding summer experience that many students list on college
applications and resumes.
And it’s free of charge! Your local American Legion Post 50 pays for the experience, but we must hear from you ASAP if you are interested so that we may interview you sometime over the next two weeks.
For details and to apply, contact Pelham Post 50 at [email protected] today. You may also contact Phillip Kiamie, the leader of Pelham Post 50 directly at [email protected].
Help us spread the word — this could be one of the most impactful weeks of your son’s high school career!
