Out of an abundance of caution in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic The Arc of Shelby County has put the following Coronavirus Response Plan into effect as of today.
The Arc of Shelby County will continue to provide essential services to program participants in our Early Intervention, Employment, and Residential Programs. Early Intervention visits will be provided utilizing tele-therapy and electronic methods (Facetime, Skype, etc.). Employment services will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and will be provided only as-needed and in a manner that adheres to safety guidelines. Our Residential services will also continue to be provided. Our Day Program is closed until further notice. All employees, even those working remotely, will have access to email and phone.

We will re-evaluate program needs on April 6 and make future determinations based upon the safety of our staff and program participants.

Additionally, we have cancelled our Tales for For Tots and REACT events scheduled for March and April, as well as our Warrior Challenge 5K that was scheduled for April 18 and our golf tournament scheduled for April 30. Look for updates on social media as to when special events will resume.

If you have any questions or concerns about services please contact us at (205) 664-9313.

November is National Family Caregivers month.

As 2019 draws to a close, we extend our heartfelt thanks to each of Alabama’s estimated 761,000 family caregivers for providing unpaid, in-home care to their loved ones who require assistance with activities of daily living and/or medical tasks.

Celebrate National Family Caregivers month by connecting a caregiver with Alabama Lifespan Respite!

Alabama Lifespan Respite offers support year-round to unpaid family caregivers of individuals with a special need, chronic/terminal illness, or mental illness through caregiver education, resources, and respite funding.
