Although I still have a few weeks left in uniform, this weekend we celebrated the end of my military career with a retirement ceremony surrounded by friends, family, and my amazing Team Dover family. Grateful for all who made it so special.

Airman First Class Michael Evangelista hails from Lancaster County, PA. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 2010. Prior to his enlistment, Evangelista worked as a full-time bassist and educator in central Pennsylvania. Some venues of note that he has performed at include the American Music Theatre, the Fulton Opera House, the Kennedy Center, and the Miller Center. In his free time, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and cats.

So the Navy has announced that they will not offer tuition assistance until you have served three years and that you must have at least 12 months left in your enlistment to receive tuition assistance making it extremely difficult to use military tuition assistance during your first enlistment. I hope that the Navy will re-think this policy but in the meantime this is important information to consider when exploring military opportunities.
