"If you are thinking of becoming a Christian, I warn you, you are embarking on something which is going to take the whole of you, brains and all."
C.S. Lewis

Vectors 6:00 Friday. “God is going to invade, all right: but what is the good of saying you are on his side then, when you see the whole natural universe melting away like a dream and something else-something it never entered your head to conceive-comes crashing in; something so beautiful to some of us and so terrible to others that none of us will have any choice left? For this time it will be God without disguise; something so overwhelming that it will strike either irresistible love or irresistible horror into every creature. It will be too late then to choose your side. There’s no use saying you choose to lie down when it has become impossible to stand up. That will not be the time for choosing: it will be the time when we discover which side we really have chosen, whether we realized it before or not. Now, today, this moment, is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back to give us that chance. It will not last forever. We must take it or leave it.”

Wednesday at 6:00 pm, Big Top Brewery, Yuletide Talk with my friend Todd Leonard. He’ll unpack the meaning behind the symbols and traditions of Christmas and dispel myths regarding its Pagan origins. I promise you’ll be inspired by the “true myths” of St Nick and the like. Todd is a lover of Christmas and has taught on this topic for years. He revels in Christmas and loves its frenzied pace even to the point of enjoying last minute Christmas Eve shopping in a crowded mall. He loves the lights, the parties, the celebrations and embraces the history and meaning of this beloved and most important of seasons. Hope to see you guys there. Invite your buddies. Should be a special evening.
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

Tonight 6:30 Vectors, Mere Christianity Book Two What Christians Believe: 5. THE PRACTICAL CONCLUSION

"God will invade. But I wonder whether the people who ask God to interfere openly and directly in our world quite realize what it will be like when He does. When that happens, it is the end of the world. When the author walks onto the stage the play is over. God is going to invade, all right: ...this time it will be God without disguise; something so overwhelming that it will strike either irresistible love or irresistible horror into every creature. It will be too late then to choose your side."

Vectors here on Friday at 6:00 pm. Mere Christianity, Book 2 What Christians Believe: The Perfect Penitent and The Practical Conclusion to be considered. "We are told that Christ was killed for us, that his death has washed out our sins, and that by dying he disabled death itself. That is the formula. That is Christianity. That is what has to be believed."

Got this from my good buddy Caleb Covert. Fits perfectly with our conversations in Mere Christianity. Ravi Zacharias (native Of India) is a towering intellect and a genuinely humble Christian thinker. He sits with a respectful atheist host and has this conversation. Hope y’all enjoy.

We’ll consider this at Vectors, 5:30 on Friday evening at Pensacola Bay Brewery.

“[Christianity tells us] how God himself becomes a man to save man from the disapproval of God.”

“If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end: if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth - only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin with and, in the end, despair.”

True Vectors 7 pm at the Robertsons’ home. The Moral Law is real, and not just one of our instincts. One of the proofs he offers against the theory that the Moral Law is merely a societal creation is the fact that moralities of different cultures are not very different. And if the Moral Law was simply a byproduct of culture, there’d be as many differences in morality as there are in fashion, and in rules of the road. But aren’t we more moral than those who burned witches? Lewis says, maybe not. “I have met people who exaggerate the differences, because they have not distinguished between differences of morality and of belief about facts.” We have more knowledge concerning witches than they did. But not more morality. “You would not call a man humane for ceasing to set mouse traps if he did so because he believed they were no mice in the house.”
