We provide U.S. Graduates are encouraged to mentor new veterans coming into program.

veterans living with military service-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs, most of which are rescued from local shelters. • Veterans diagnosed with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ( ) or Traumatic Brain Injury ( ) apply for admission to our program.
• Once accepted into our program, the veter

an is paired with a rescued dog or their own personal dog, if it passes an evaluation by one of our trainers.
• Together, the veteran/dog team begins training with our professional trainers. Training is designed for a PTSD Service Dog or Therapeutic Companion Dog.
• A Service or Therapeutic Companion Dog provides constant support that can make it easier for veterans to readjust to civilian life and manage the symptoms of PTSD or TBI.
• The veteran/dog team attends classes twice weekly for approximately 6 to 9 months of training and mentoring.
• Currently, classes/training are offered in Phoenix (east & west valley), Tucson, Flagstaff, Prescott and Sierra Vista.
• Following successful completion of the program requirements, the veteran and dog graduate.
• Ongoing support and involvement are offered for graduated teams.

Happy ! Today, we're diving back into some milestones made by our amazing Phoenix East Valley teams earlier this year.

DRUM ROLL please... 🥁 We are ecstatic to announce that on June 6th, 2026, Soldier's Best Friend will be celebrating the 500th veteran/dog team to graduate 🎓 from our training program! That’s 500 veterans and 500 dogs 🐾 whose lives have been transformed through our life-changing program—and we want you there to celebrate with us! 🎊

If you’ve been following Soldier’s Best Friend for a while, you may already know that our Sierra Vista training program is held at the Warrior Healing Center (WHC). This incredible space was founded by one of our March 2017 graduates, Tim Kirk, with a mission to support and uplift fellow veterans on their healing journeys.

We’re proud to share that Tim was recently honored with the Pro Football Hall of Fame Award of Character—well-deserved recognition for his dedication to serving others and strengthening the veteran community.

Good morning and happy ! Today, we are so excited to announce that one of our Sierra Vista teams, Christine & Heizle, has passed the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test! That means that Heizle will now get to sport the red 'in training' vest! At SBF, red vests mean our teams can begin training in public locations. This is a vital part of training because it's extremely important for service dogs to be well-mannered when out in public. Our professional trainers help the veterans and dogs learn how to navigate the world together.
