This weekend, I helped honor Jack McHugh from Troop 732 as he received his Eagle Scout award. Jack is an outstanding young man who continues the long tradition set by one of Perry Hall’s oldest and most active Scouting units.

Today, I met dozens of local residents at the Town Fair in Perry Hall.

There are few other opportunities to engage with so many people at one time - Democrats, Republicans, and unaffiliated voters and their families who shared their suggestions and concerns.

🦅 Celebrating Freedom and a Historic Comeback on National American Eagle Day! 🦅

On this day in 1782, the Continental Congress officially adopted the bald eagle as our national symbol. Beyond representing American freedom, the bald eagle stands as a powerful testament to what happens when communities commit to environmental restoration.Maryland’s history with the bald eagle is a profound success story.

In the 1970s, the species was on the brink of local extinction, with only 44 nesting pairs left across the entire state.
Fast forward to today:

📈 From 44 pairs in 1977 to over 1,400 breeding pairs thriving in Maryland today!

🌊 The Chesapeake Bay region now boasts the highest concentration of bald eagles in the lower 48 states.

We are incredibly fortunate to witness this dramatic population rebound right here in our own backyards and across our district. Seeing these apex predators hunting along our local waterways is proof that our efforts to clean up our rivers, bays, and watersheds are working.Thank you to all the local conservationists, park rangers, and residents who protect our local habitats.

Let's keep our environment clean so these beautiful birds can continue to fly high over Maryland.
