These are the meeting minutes from the January 26, 2026, City of Peru Committee of a Whole meeting regarding the sports complex. A total project cost of $126 million. In the Business District plan recently passed last Monday, there was $50 million set for the sports complex/aquatics facility. The minutes state an outdoor aquatics attraction would only cost around $10 million. Did any alderman question this amount? The pool committee was quoted a price of $7 million for a scaled down swimming pool. How could an aquatics attraction only cost $3 million more? Who will pay for that? The aldermen told us the aquatic facility would only be built if a private developer came in and built it. But will it end up that Peru taxpayers pay for it anyway?
