Saturday was a DAY!! Our Autism Play Date was an incredible time for so many children and their families, which is why this event was created. It was an honor to carry on the vision Derek Green had over 6 years ago to have a day for all families, especially those with neurodiversities like Autism, to just let loose, engage, and end the summer with a bang as the school year begins. Sending a major thank you to Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse for hosting us once again, to Ausomeness Inc. for collaborating and co-hosting this event with us, and to all our sponsors like Commissioner Omar Sabir NeurAbilities Healthcare SJU Autism Awareness for the Kinney Center, Woods Healthcare and so many others for making it all possible and FREE to our guests. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came out to join us, including Council President Darrell L. Clarke and Councilman Anthony Phillips. Thank you to all our resource vendors, including Councilmember Jim Harrity, for your time and dedication to this event. Teamwork makes the dream work…and we did it! Rochelle Cameron Tonya D. My heart aches for the families of Monday night's victims in Kingsessing. It's even more disheartening and upsetting to think that if this individual suffered with mental health issues for years as has been reported, and no one intervened to help him, we are failing each other as a society. If you or someone you know is in need of trauma or mental health support services, or any other sort of crisis assistance, please visit www.DBHIDS.org/trauma Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services for a list of resources.
