Do you need a scanner to participate in The Musser Muskie Monitor? You can borrow a scanner from this box at the woodland boat launch.

The boxes door is gasketed to be weather tight and is difficult to close. Please push door closed firmly to compress the gasket when closing.

These scanners are not waterproof. Please leave them in the clear bag when in use to prevent damage.

In 2025, Musser Flowage did not receive its typical odd year muskie fingerling stocking from the Wisconsin DNR due to statewide hatchery shortages. When fingerling supply is limited, the DNR uses a ranking system to prioritize lakes for stocking. To strengthen Musser Flowage’s ranking for 2027, the Musser Lake Association Conservation Committee is launching the Musser Muskie Monitor. This program is designed to collect and share valuable muskie growth and population data with Wisconsin DNR biologists. By implementing a structured data-reporting program which accumulates 20 or more data points from newly tagged or recaptured fish, Musser Flowage can increase its stocking priority score by three points for future stocking seasons.
