A Special Message to City of Phoenix Employees from
Councilmember Daniel Valenzuela

As I step down from the City Council, I want to express my thanks for the work you do on behalf of the 1.7 million people of Phoenix.

It has been the highest honor of my life to be a part of a team of public servants who guide our city and deliver the basic services our citizens expect and deserve. A team of over 15,000 city employees as well as thousands of volunteers who give of their time to serve on our many boards and commissions.

Your efforts have built on the foundation of those that have come before us over the course of the 137 years since our incorporation as a city.

You have been a part of making Phoenix a more prosperous city, leading the nation in job growth.

You have helped make Phoenix a safer city.

You have served to make Phoenix a welcoming and inclusive community.

In sum, your contribution to our high quality of life has made Phoenix a desirable place to live, work, and raise a family. Because of you, Phoenix – now America’s 5th largest city – is the envy of communities across the nation.

Thank you for the opportunity to join you these past six years to keep our great city of Phoenix moving forward.

Most importantly, thank you for your service.

Sincerely,

Daniel Valenzuela, Councilman
City of Phoenix, Council District 5
