PGCBA Founded in 1902, is a voluntary association for attorneys in and of Prince George's County.

The Prince George's County Bar Association, founded in 1902, is a voluntary association for attorneys in and of Prince George's County. The PGCBA's membership is comprised of a wide spectrum of individuals representing not just the general practitioner of law (the largest majority) but also members of the judiciary, public officials, government attorneys (State's Attorney and County Attorney and s

taff), Public Defenders, quasi-public agency counsel (Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission), corporate house counsel, law professors and university staff, as well as law clerks and paralegals. Prince George's County is part of a multi-jurisdictional metropolitan area and attracts as members those attorneys who live and work in the County as well as those whose practices cover a wide region within the State of Maryland, the District of Columbia and the neighboring Commonwealth of Virginia. The PGCBA has long been recognized throughout the area as an association which, because of its moderate size, affords its members an extensive networking opportunity for interaction and camaraderie with their fellow attorneys. In addition, since members of the judiciary are active participants in the association and its programs who hold office and chair various committees and events, the general practitioner is afforded a unique opportunity to interact with members of the judiciary in a setting other than that of the formality and remoteness of the courtroom. Further, the PGCBA provides a highly regarded program of continuing legal education seminars and substantive law articles in the newsletter which enhance the professionalism of its members. A series of meetings and special events afford members the opportunity to socialize with their colleagues in a non-adversarial environment. For over a hundred years the PGCBA has been proud of its achievements, proud of its friendly reputation, and proud of its members.
