Coral's foster describes her as the purrfect kitty. She gets along with the other kitties in her home as well as the pup. By getting along we mean, she ignores them because she is the queen. Coral is playful, affectionate, and simply gorgeous. Coral is about 9 months old. Her adoption fee is $100. By contract our kitties cannot be declawed.

🎂🎈It’s time for a 🐾PUPPY🐾Shower🎈🎂!

Mamie was found as a stray and taken in by HLHS when no owner came forward. We discovered Mamie was pregnant just a couple weeks after taking her in.
Last night around 1230am Mamie began having her pups, and she finished her labor with her NINTH puppy at 6 this morning! We never imagined little Mamie would have so many!!!

So in celebration of Mamie and her 9 babies we are having a “puppy shower” in their honor! If you’d like to gift a present to Mamie and her babies you can send to
HLHS
1617 E Lafayette St
Winnfield Louisiana 71483

Here is a list of things Mamie and babies will need:
-small blankets
-Pedigree Puppy Canned Food
-Puppy Pads
-Ultra 24 Milk Replacment
-Miracle Nipples
( most items can be found on Amazon or Tractor Supply)

If you’d like to make a monetary donation toward Mamie and her babies for their upcoming vetting you can also do that here!
Watch Mamie’s babies grow with us and thank you to all of our supporters!

Looking to adopt? Check out Bella!

Bella loves making air biscuits after being petted. Bella is 5 years old, but still channels her inner kitten. She is curious mischievous, and loveable. She doesn't like to be held but adores being petted and loves wand toys. She is front declawed so she MUST be kept indoors. She also has a flea allergy that is controlled by monthly flea prevention. Her adoption fee is $100. Thanks @petcofoundation helping us #SavePetLives #PFpartner

Some good tips here for anyone who has found a lost dog. please read and share.

Acadiana Community, as the Lafayette Animal Shelter has had to close for services other than emergencies, you may be wondering what to do if you have found or lost a pet. Well.... it will be up to our wonderful pet-loving community to step up efforts to help our lost/found pets. We wanted to provide you with some information and resources that will help you. (please share)

If You Have Lost or Found a Pet:

Try to find the owner/Try to find your pet:

• If you have found a pet, please have the dog/cat scanned for a microchip. Any vet will scan (free of charge). Including the emergency vet clinics, (open 24 hours) Lafayette Veterinary Care Center and Lafayette Animal Emergency Clinic. There is also the low-cost vet clinic, Spay Neuter Clinic: Lafayette 🐾 BE SURE TO CALL YOUR VET OR THE EMERGENCY VET CLINIC BEFORE DRIVING THERE. MOST VETS ARE ABLE TO SEE ANIMALS, BUT YOU MUST CALL. Many of our area vets are doing tele-vet visits and visits in their parking lots.

• Put a BIG SIGN in your front yard, if you've found a pet, or if you have lost a pet. A lost pet's owner may be driving around looking for him/her. Or if someone found a pet, they may be driving around looking for its owner. Most lost pets are found within a few miles of their home.

• Put fliers all around the area for a pet you've lost, but also for a pet you've found, in case someone is driving around looking for their lost pet or for the owner of a pet they found.

- Create a post on PawBoost.com. Excellent site and they share the fliers far and wide (internet and Facebook).

• Post to lost and found pet pages. Several good ones include Lost and Found Pets Acadiana, Lafayette Parish Lost/Found Pets, and LOST PETS IN AND AROUND LAFAYETTE PARISH, LOUISIANA AREA.

• Be sure to check the posts, including Visitors' Posts, to see if someone is looking for their lost dog/cat or has posted about one they found.

• Be sure to include your CONTACT INFORMATION in your posts (your phone number and/or email).

• Be sure to include where exactly the pet was found or lost. Street name and specific area of the city or parish.

• Check the Current Inventory page on the Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center (http://www.lafayettela.gov/lascc/pages/default). There you will see lost animals who have come into the shelter and not been reclaimed.

Foster the Pet:

• Please consider FOSTERING the pet you found or ask family or friends if they can foster the pet, at least until we get through this COVID-19 situation. If you can, please call your vet for a quick exam and vaccinations. 🐾 BE SURE TO CALL YOUR VET BEFORE DRIVING THERE. MOST VETS ARE ABLE TO SEE ANIMALS, BUT YOU MUST CALL. Many of our area vets are doing tele-vet visits and visits in their parking lots.

• If you do not have a vet that your know or use, please consider Spay Neuter Clinic: Lafayette, a low-cost clinic in our area. They are excellent.

• If you need help with pet food, please contact the The Pet Food Pantry a Division of FoodNet Food Bank of Lafayette, La They assist owners in need. You can also contact FLASh at [email protected].

• Consider giving the pet a nice bath.

• Be sure to keep the pet safely inside (cats and dogs) and/or in a securely fenced yard (dogs), so that he/she does not wander off and become lost once again.

Rehoming the Pet

• Go to Rehome (https://rehome.adoptapet.com/) for excellent guidance and assistance in finding a new home for a pet. Note: responsible rehoming includes making sure the pet is vaccinated and spayed/neutered.
