At 7:27 a.m. this morning, the Pipestone Fire Department was dispatched to the 600 block of West Main Street following reports of an oven fire.

Upon arrival, crews found no active fire, but smoke remained in the building. Firefighters spent approximately 30 minutes on scene ventilating the structure and ensuring the area was safe.

Fortunately, everyone involved was okay, and no injuries were reported. Calls like these are a good reminder that even when a fire appears to be out, smoke and hidden hazards can still pose risks. Thanks to the quick response by firefighters, the situation was brought under control safely and efficiently.

đźš’ Remember: If you experience a cooking-related fire, call 911 and allow firefighters to verify that the danger has passed before re-entering affected areas.

🚨 Apparatus Spotlight Series – Week 6 🚨This week we’re staying out of the city limits and heading deep into the fields and grasslands… where bigger trucks simply can’t go. 🌾🔥
Meet our “Grass Rig” — a 2014 Ram 3500 Crew Cab built for wildland and grass fire response.
It may not always be the first truck flowing water… but when the terrain gets rough and the fire spreads fast, this rig becomes one of the most important tools on scene.
🔹 Seats 5 personnel🔹 Carries 350 gallons of water🔹 Equipped with two toolboxes full of wildland and grass fire tools🔹 Built for off-road response in fields, ditches, and rough terrain
This truck plays a critical role during grassland and wildland fires, giving crews the ability to reach areas a traditional fire truck could never access. From muddy field roads to open pasture fires, the Grass Rig is designed to get firefighters where they’re needed most — fast. 🚒💨
And trust us… when this rig rolls out, it’s going somewhere the pavement ends. 🔥
Stay tuned—more apparatus coming your way next week 🔥

🚨 Apparatus Spotlight Series – Week 5 🚨This week we’re heading out of town and into the rural response game… where water isn’t always waiting at the curb. 💧🔥
Meet our “Water Caddy” — better known as The Tanker — a 2006 Peterbilt 335 and a critical lifeline on scene.
It may not be the first to spray water… but without it, the fight doesn’t last long.
🔹 Seats 2 personnel🔹 Carries 2000 gallons of water🔹 Equipped with a 2000 gallon drop tank (portable hydrant)🔹 Built for water supply where hydrants don’t exist
This truck is essential for hauling water to rural fires and supporting mutual aid calls with our neighboring departments. When water is limited, the Tanker keeps operations moving and crews protected.
And trust us… when the Tanker leaves the barn, it’s headed where it’s needed most — out in the country, backing up the front line. 🚒💨
Stay tuned—more apparatus coming your way next week 🔥

🚨 Apparatus Spotlight Series – Week 4 🚨This week we’re highlighting the veteran of the fleet… the one that’s seen it all and still answers the call. 🔥
Meet our Engine Truck — a 2002 Laverne built on a Spartan chassis, and the oldest active rig in service.
It may share some similarities with last week’s Hose Truck… but this engine brings its own strengths to the fight. Built tough, dependable, and always ready to go to work when it counts.
🔹 Seats 5 personnel🔹 Carries 1,000 gallons of water🔹 Loaded with a heavy supply of fire attack & water supply hose
It’s not the flashiest truck in the barn — it’s the one with the stories. The one that’s been on the front lines time and time again, proving its worth with every call.
Because when this engine rolls out… you know it’s been there before. 🚒🔥
Stay tuned — next week we’re heading beyond city limits to showcase the trucks built for the long haul. 🌲💨

🚨 At 2:02 PM, the Pipestone Fire Department was dispatched to the city tree dump for a report of trees on fire. Crews responded quickly with the HRT, Engine, Grass Rig, and Tanker.

While the fire was contained before becoming a major incident, today’s dry and windy conditions could have turned this into something much more serious in a matter of minutes. Thanks to the fast response and teamwork of our firefighters, the situation was brought under control safely.

⚠️ Due to current weather conditions, the tree dump will remain CLOSED until further notice.

🔥 Interested in what we do? This is just a small glimpse into the calls we respond to and the teamwork it takes to protect our community. The Pipestone Fire Department is currently looking for more members to join our team! If you’ve ever considered becoming a firefighter, now is a great time to reach out. We’d love to talk with you about the opportunities available. 🚒

đźš’ Help Us Help You!

With winter weather here, we’re asking all residents to please keep a 3-foot area cleared around fire hydrants near your home.

A visible, accessible hydrant can save firefighters critical seconds during an emergency. Your few minutes of shoveling could make a life-saving difference.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe! ❄️
