Warning, which is in effect until 7 PM EDT this evening.

The strongest winds will occur north of the Mountain Parkway.

* HUMIDITY...Relative humidity values will bottom out in the 20
to 30 percent range for most locations.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Breathitt, KY; Floyd, KY; Jackson, KY; Knott, KY; Lee, KY; Magoffin, KY; Martin, KY; Owsley, KY; Pike, KY; Pulaski, KY; Rockcastle, KY

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall are expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast, south central, and southeast
Kentucky, including the following counties, in northeast Kentucky,
Martin. In south central Kentucky, Pulaski and Rockcastle. In
southeast Kentucky, Breathitt, Floyd, Jackson, Knott, Lee,
Magoffin, Owsley and Pike.

* WHEN...Until 945 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 639 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms is moving into the advisory area. This will
cause urban and small stream flooding.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Prestonsburg, Mount Vernon, Jackson, McKee, Booneville,
Martin, Forest Hills, Allen, Haddix, Lost Creek, Quicksand,
Dumont, Howard Creek, Inverness, Curt, Smith Branch, Copland,
Portsmouth, Flintville and Saldee.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

It is with deep sadness, Pippa Passes Fire & Rescue announces the passing of our former Chief, Diamond Slone Jr. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow firefighters and all who were touched by his years of leadership, dedication, and service. Diamond will be greatly missed.
