It is located approximately 0.6 miles offshore from the closest point of land at Eldwayen Ocean Park seaward of Ocean Blvd between the ends of Montecito and Morro Streets in Shell Beach, CA. It sticks out of the water approximately 7' at mean lower low tide, and its approximate size at those times is 40' x 20'. Waves frequently crash completely over it at high tide and rough sea conditions. I have

personally circumnavigated it by kayak. Climbing onto the rock would be very challenging due to ocean surge and would otherwise be so much fun that it's probably illegal. Only seabirds visit the rock, although it is unsuitable for nesting. It has been symbolically claimed by John Stephan Crews by the instrument of this page.
