All Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) driver license and photo centers, including the Riverfront Office Center in Harrisburg, will be closed Saturday, Sept. 5, through Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online through PennDOT's Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.pa.gov.

My office will also be closed in observance of the holiday and will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Pennsylvania helped build America, and we belong at the center of its 250th birthday celebration!

As a Commissioner for America250PA, I am proud to continue celebrating this incredible milestone and Pennsylvania’s role in our nation’s story.

Pennsylvania is where America’s story began. Philadelphia was the birthplace of our independence, the Declaration of Independence was signed here and our Commonwealth played a central role in creating the nation we know today.

I was very pleased to see U.S. Senator Dave McCormick and U.S. Senator John Fetterman put politics aside and work together, in a bipartisan way, to make sure Pennsylvania would not be left out of the Great American State Fair on the National Mall.

I had the opportunity to tour the Pennsylvania display with Nathan Gerace from Senator McCormick’s office, and there are some incredible Pennsylvania artifacts and pieces of our history on display.

Earlier, I shared some thoughts about my Help End Human Trafficking event in Sewickley Hills last night.

Now, I want to share a few photos from the event. As you can see, we had a full house of people who came together to learn more about human trafficking and what we can do to help prevent it and protect victims.

Human trafficking is a serious issue that affects communities across Pennsylvania. I have sponsored, co-sponsored and supported numerous pieces of legislation to strengthen our laws, protect victims and hold traffickers accountable. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Help End Human Trafficking event in Sewickley Hills. The turnout and questions made it clear that human trafficking is a real issue in Pennsylvania, and we all have a role in fighting it.

I highlighted legislation I have advanced to strengthen Pennsylvania’s response, including Act 31 and Act 41 of 2026, which expand awareness training and enforcement tools, and House Bill 2174, which strengthens protections for victims in trafficking prosecutions.

We also heard insights from Cate Colesar of The Asservo Project, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Dave Sunday, Charity Trahan of Altus Solutions, Lisa Gibbs of Eden's Farm, and Kristen Beddard, co-lead of PA Unplugged. Their perspectives reinforced the importance of recognizing the warning signs, supporting survivors, and bringing law enforcement, nonprofits and communities together.

Recently, I had the opportunity to tour the nearly completed Fern Hollow Nature Center in Sewickley with board president Jennifer Nastasi and board member Francye Kinney.

Fern Hollow is a nonprofit nature and environmental education center that helps children, families and adults connect with the outdoors through hands-on learning, programs and exploration across its 33-acre property. It serves more than 10,000 visitors each year.

The renovation and 1,200-square-foot expansion will create new indoor and outdoor classroom space, improve accessibility and give Fern Hollow more room to expand its educational programs for students, families and the community.

Take a look as Jennifer and Francye give me a tour of the exciting new space and share what’s ahead for Fern Hollow!

Hopefully, renovations will be completed by Oct. 17.

I am looking forward to being the keynote speaker for the Sewickley Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Local Advantage Series on 𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭. 𝟐𝟐, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. I will be sharing some of what I have learned over the past three decades as an entrepreneur, business owner and investor.

I started my first company in 1994 and have had the opportunity to work with entrepreneurs and small businesses at many different stages of growth.

It takes planning, persistence, access to the right resources and a community that wants to see you succeed.

I’m looking forward to talking about starting a business in Sewickley, the opportunities that exist here and some of the steps that can help turn an idea into a successful business.

Pennsylvania families deserve better than a return to COVID-era government overreach.

The Shapiro administration has proposed Department of Health regulations that raise serious concerns about parental rights, privacy, civil liberties and the limits of government power, including troubling provisions involving students and families.

We learned important lessons during COVID. We should not repeat those mistakes. I am calling on the Shapiro administration to withdraw these regulations and encourage you to make your voice heard.

Protecting public health should never mean giving government unlimited authority to enter our homes, access private information or question children behind their parents’ backs.

Pennsylvania families deserve transparency, accountability and reasonable limits on government power.

It was a privilege to take part in the annual memorial service honoring the Tuskegee Airmen at Sewickley Cemetery.

Many of the Tuskegee Airmen had roots in Sewickley and western Pennsylvania. They faced prejudice and low expectations but refused to let either define what they could accomplish. Through courage, determination and confidence, they proved what was possible.

As I shared in my remarks, this memorial is not a tribute to those who said, “I think I can.” It is a tribute to those who believed, “I know I can.”

Please watch my remarks and experience some of the sights and sounds from this special event honoring their courage and legacy.

Thank you to Allegheny Commandery No. 35, Knights Templar of PA, for hosting this meaningful memorial service, and to the Edgeworth Garden Club for caring for the beautiful plantings.

My sincere gratitude to the Tuskegee Airmen for the example they set for generations to come.

It was a pleasure to host a legislative update session at Tapestry Senior Living Moon Township.

I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from residents as they shared questions and concerns about state services and other important issues. These conversations are invaluable and help ensure my office is equipped to assist residents with a variety of state-related matters.
